Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Next DLC Fighters Are Xenoblade’s Pyra and Mythra

After almost 2 months of waiting, we finally know that Pyra and Mythra are set to be the next DLC fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Today's Nintendo Direct marked an extremely special occasion. Not only was it the first general Direct since September 2019, but it's also the day that Masahiro Sakurai blew our minds once again.

Now, at last, we know the identity of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's 79th fighter. And it's none other than Xenoblade's Pyra and Mythra.

These two fighters were certainly nobody's first pick for a Smash Ultimate candidate, but their movesets may have won a few players over already.

Missed the announcement? Here's everything this Nintendo Direct had to offer, with reveals, trailers, and more!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's New DLC Fighter

In a surprising start to the Nintendo Direct, a trailer for what looked like a Xenoblade Chronicles game kicked things off. But instead of a new announcement, it was quickly revealed that Pyra is the newest fighter to join the Smash roster.

Mid-trailer, we're also treated to the news that Mythra will also be joining the fight. Each one comes with a unique moveset, but these are far from echo fighters.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Pyra Mythra Reveal

We'll have to wait to find out more about how the new Xenoblade duo works, but their new trailer gives us more than a few ideas as to their fighting style.

We know that the two fighters will be able to swap between one another, similar to Sheik and Zelda's original moveset.

Pyra boasts powerful fire-infused smash attacks, whereas Mythra uses the power of light. Like Shulk, Mythra can even use the power of Foresight to counter opponents caught in its range.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Pyra & Mythra Reveal Trailer

Pyra and Mythra will be replacing Sephiroth as Smash Ultimate's most recent fighter reveal. The Final Fantasy villain took the internet by storm, as fans were still recovering from the shock of Minecraft's Steve in Smash Bros.

In the past, one leaker accurately predicted that Min-Min, Sephiroth, and Steve were coming to Smash as DLC. However, that same leaker believes they also know the next characters coming to Smash Ultimate.

We'll have to wait to find out more, but we've got our own predictions about the next Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter. After all, we did manage to accurately guess that Steve would be DLC, we may strike gold again soon!

And although it's not legit just yet, one modder found a way to add Kingdom Hearts' Sora to the Super Smash Bros. roster.
