The Fighters Pass 2 DLC was released for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate back in January, but so far only Arms character Min-Min has been released as a playable addition.
Although a new Japanese ad seems to suggest that the announcement of more characters is imminent. The ad was discovered by Twitter user @OnuaUlt and shows Min-Min stood next to 5 empty pass slots, which the new characters are expected to occupy.
It also displays the date the 4th of October in the right-hand top corner. While this doesn’t explicitly reveal anything about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it seems to suggest that at least one character will be announced on that date.
Nintendo have a habit of releasing ads like this in the far east then panicking and removing them as soon as the west takes notice. This could be a deliberate effort to create hype, a mistake, or if could mean nothing at all.
Although our money is in this being genuine and that a character will indeed be released (or unveiled) on the 4th October. There’s been a 3-month gap since Min-Min was released and Super Smash Bros Fighters Pass 2 is due an update.
If not, those who purchased it may begin to wonder why they did. Therefore, we fully expect Fighter 77 to make themselves known when the 4th October rolls around.

Who Is The Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter?
It could be anyone, previous additions such as Byleth and Min-Min were surprises so in truth it’s anyone’s guess. Although Kubfu from Pokémon Sword and Shield’s first DLC pack would be a safe bet.
This could also encourage Pokémon Sword and Shield players to purchase the DLC pass for that game too. So it makes commercial sense.
There’s also rumours that a Nintendo Direct could be happening on the 8th October. However, this is not yet confirmed by Nintendo and should be taken with a pinch of salt until it is.
This could also feature some Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news if it turns out to be true.
