Starfield, Bethesda’s new space RPG, is notably an Xbox exclusive, but is the highly anticipated game also arriving on PC this September?

If you’re looking forward to the launch of Starfield, you’re not alone. It’s been a long time coming and, finally, release day is just around the corner.

Unfortunately for PlayStation fans, Starfield will not be coming to PS4 or PS5, due to Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media back in 2021.

But when September 6 rolls around, will Starfield be coming to PC as well as Xbox?

Will Starfield Be Playable On PC?

Yes, PC gamers will be happy to hear that Starfield will be playable on PC via both the Microsoft Store and Steam on Day One: September 6, 2023.

Although the new Bethesda title will likely feel at home on Xbox, PC players have a couple of major advantages to look forward to. First, those with high-end rigs will be able to run Starfield at higher frame rates – while even Series X users will be locked to 30 FPS.

And perhaps more importantly, the modding community behind Bethesda titles is one of the biggest out there. If you’re excited to see what mods Starfield has to offer, you’ll want to pick up the game on Steam for the best modding support.

Starfield on Steam

But for those who don’t fancy paying for a full-price release, Starfield will also be arriving on Xbox Game Pass on Day One.

Game Pass PC subscribers will be able to download and play Starfield from the official app, without purchasing the new title. Bear in mind that the Game Pass / Microsoft Store version of Starfield won’t be as easy to mod as its Steam counterpart.

And of course, by downloading the game for free, you do miss out on one other important benefit…

Can You Get Early Access to Starfield on PC?

Yes, Starfield early access is available to PC players who purchase the Premium or Constellation Edition of the game. This will provide users with up to 5 days of early access, beginning on September 1.

Game Pass subscribers will only get access to the new Bethesda title when it launches officially on September 6, regardless if they’re a PC or console user.

Unfortunately, if you’re looking to explore the universe from your desktop as soon as possible, it’s going to cost you some extra cash.

Starfield Premium Edition Pre Order

While the standard edition of Starfield retails for $69.99, the Premium Edition will set you back $99.99! That’s a high price to pay but, thankfully, it does also include access to Starfield’s first story DLC: ‘Shattered Space.’

The Constellation Edition, on the other hand, retails at a whopping $299.99, making it a must-buy for only the Starfield mega-fans.
