The Adoring Fan is back in Starfield, and here’s everything you need to know about where to find and recruit your biggest supporter.
For those unfamiliar, the Adoring Fan made his debut back in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Back then, the annoying NPC would become obsessed with the player character should they become the Grand Champion of the Arena.
Now, the Adoring Fan is back, and once again voiced by Craig Sechler. Here’s how to recruit him onto your starship:
Where to Find the Adoring Fan in Starfield
Starfield players can find the Adoring Fan only after choosing the Hero Worshipped Trait during character creation.
The Adoring Fan is located on New Atlantis, though it’s possible that he could spawn in other areas too.
The NPC will run up and talk to you while you’re hanging around in New Atlantis, meaning you don’t have to find him – he’ll find you.
How to Recruit the Adoring Fan in Starfield
To recruit the Adoring Fan you must have the Hero Worshipped Trait in Starfield. Then, when the NPC approaches you, select ‘[Assign Crew] Welcome Aboard’ to recruit him.
Never fear, you’re not stuck with the Adoring Fan forever. You can assign him to your ship or outposts, or have him as a companion, whatever you prefer.
Although the companion doesn’t have the highest stats, he still boasts 1 Rank in Scavenging and Concealment, and 2 Ranks in Weight-Lifting, making him a good way to carry extra loot around.

In addition, the NPC will occasionally give you gifts, but there don’t appear to be any special items obtained in this manner.
It is possible to reject him too, but if that’s your choice, why pick Hero Worshipped in the first place? Chances are you’ll be able to find him again and recruit him even after turning him down initially.
If the Adoring Fan proves too annoying for you, you can always remove him from the game… permanently.
Can You Kill the Adoring Fan in Starfield?
Yes, you can kill the Adoring Fan in Starfield but only after talking to him and removing him from your crew. Attacking him while he’s your companion will result in him taking no damage.
Instead, talk to him about his fandom and remove his crew status, or use Persuasion to convince him you’re a murderer. Doing this will cause him to leave in disgust, but either way, he’ll now be vulnerable to damage.
Should you choose, you can kill the Adoring Fan on the spot, but be sure not to do it in the presence of your other crew as they will all strongly disapprove.
In this clip from YouTuber Gegcoin you can see the Adoring Fan meeting his end, all while apologizing for being in the way of your bullets.
What Happens If You Kill the Adoring Fan in Starfield?
Killing the Adoring Fan in Starfield will remove your Hero Worshipped Trait and permanently kill off the character. He does not respawn.
In Oblivion, the Adoring Fan would respawn after three days if he was killed. However, it seems that this is not the case in Starfield.

Killing the Adoring Fan is one way to ensure you never have to hear his voice again. But be certain in your decision as it seems there are no take-backs this time.
However, there are no consequences to the action either, besides removing your companion and Trait for good.
