Can You Play Star Wars Jedi Survivor Early With New Zealand Trick?

Can we head to a galaxy far, far away just a little early?

Cal Kestis’ new adventure is just around the corner in Jedi Survivor but can skip the wait with a little know-how?

The long-awaited sequel to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order finally releases this week and a lot of fans are dying to hop into the game as soon as possible.

With the New Zealand trick, gamers can usually drop in a little early – but does the process work for Jedi: Survivor?

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Does the New Zealand Trick Work?

No, the New Zealand trick (where players change their console region to NZ to play early) will not work for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

This is because the game has a single global release time, rather than releasing at midnight in each region.

Oftentimes games tend to unlock at midnight on consoles, meaning that time zones that hit midnight earlier will get access to the release first.

The New Zealand trick is a handy way to get early access to games by fooling your Xbox into thinking the release should be unlocked in your region.

But since Jedi: Survivor has just been revealed to have a single global release time of 12 AM ET on April 28, all gamers will get access at the exact same time.

How Does the New Zealand Trick Work?

To use the New Zealand Trick, Xbox players will need to change their location to New Zealand in the console settings. Here’s how to do so:

Remember: The New Zealand Trick will NOT work for Jedi: Survivor
  • From the Xbox Dashboard, open Settings
  • Select System
  • Select the Location dropdown menu and select New Zealand
  • Select Your Language Region as English (New Zealand)
  • Finally, hit Restart Now.

You’ll then be able to play games with a staggered release up to a full day before its launch in your region!

How to Get Jedi Survivor Early Using New Zealand Trick

Don’t worry about getting in trouble as Xbox has no restriction on console region changes. In fact, official channels have even made reference to the ‘New Zealand Trick’ on multiple occasions.

Your region can be changed back at any time, though we’d wait to do so until after the game launches in your country.
