Star Wars Games Are No Longer EA Exclusive

EA will no longer have exclusivity of the development of Star Wars games.

A new announcement has revealed that the Star Wars license for games will no longer be EA exclusive.

New Star Wars games were likely after a big revival of LucasFilm Games, but fans were not expecting such a huge announcement so soon after.

The first new Star Wars game has been announced as an open-world title by developers of The Division. However, fans can expect more Star Wars game announcements in the near future.

The Future of Star Wars Games

LucasFilm Games has revealed their ambitious plans for the future of Star Wars games. It plans to work alongside recognized developers to make a wide range of games spanning the whole Star Wars galaxy.

Douglas Reilly, VP of LucasFilm Games said:

"We’ve got a team of professionals here at Lucasfilm Games who can work with the developers, shape the stories, shape the creative, shape the games, to make them really resonate with fans and deliver across a breadth of platforms, genres, and experiences... that all of our fans can enjoy .”

This will hopefully lead to a gaming landscape full of Star Wars titles. Fans of the franchise will certainly hope for more titles than the last few years.

However, Star Wars fans might have to contain their excitement for a while longer. EA's exclusivity deal runs out in 2023 so Star Wars games made by other developers will come out after that.

LucasFilm Games Leaving EA Behind?

Despite EA no longer being the only developer of Star Wars games, Lucasfilm Games has assured that they will also be a "big part" of the franchise's future.

Fans of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Battlefront 2 will love this news. With EA still developing games, fans can most likely look forward to sequels to those games.

The full details of the announcement can be found on the Star Wars website.

The brand-new Lucasfilm Games has also announced that they will be teaming up with Bethesda to make an Indiana Jones game.

However, this news is worrying fans of Bethesda RPGs. Will Indiana Jones delay Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6?

All of these new games will surely launch on PS5. A PlayStation leaker has revealed when millions of PS5 consoles will drop.
