How to Get & Upgrade the Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies fans can get their hands on the iconic Staff of Ice Wonder Weapon on The Tomb map – here’s how:

Black Ops 6’s The Tomb map has finally arrived, and our expedition into the ancient underground caverns has already unearthed one relic!

The Staff of Ice (or Ice Staff as longtime fans refer to it), is a returning Wonder Weapon from Black Ops 2’s Origins map. The fan-favorite weapon is back in action in The Tomb, albeit without its other elemental counterparts.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to get and use the Staff of Ice!

How to Get the Ice Staff on The Tomb

There are two ways to get the Staff of Ice on The Tomb map:

1. Using the Mystery Box
   • By using a Wonderbar! GobbleGum, you have a 50/50 shot of obtaining the Staff of Ice the next time you use the Mystery Box.
2. Crafting it in the Door to Nowhere, after collecting the Staff and Head Piece.

Although the Mystery Box is the easiest way to get the Ice Staff – letting you skip a huge portion of The Tomb’s Main Quest Easter Egg, it requires you to have an Ultra-tier GobbleGum.

Therefore, we recommend crafting the Wonder Weapon using the method below:

Finding the Monocle

1. To get started, progress the game until Round 8.
2. This will cause a Shock Mimic to spawn near your location.

3. Kill the Mimic and pick up the Monocle it drops.

The Monocle must be obtained first, as it allows you to see the symbols necessary to obtain the Ice Staff components. The following two items can be obtained in any order:

Get the Head Piece

1. Head to the Neolithic Catacombs, where you’ll see a constellation of a hunter on the wall near the Crafting Table.

2. To progress, you need to make sure that this purple crystal has spawned in the hunter’s cavern.
   • If it has (and you have the Monocle), you’ll be able to see the constellation symbols light up.

3. If the crystal isn’t there, you need to find and shoot other nearby purple hanging crystals. After each crystal breaks, it appears in a new location after 45 seconds.

4. When the purple crystal spawns near the hunter constellation, you’ll see symbols appear on the wall.
5. These symbols, which resemble the numbers 1 to 9 in Roman numerals, need to be shot in order from smallest value to largest.
6. Although the locations of the symbols change each game, here’s the order you’ll need to shoot them in:

7. Next, follow the purple orb that emerges from the constellation and fight off four waves of enemies in the area nearby.
8. Once you’ve successfully completed this step, the Head Piece will spawn next to the hunter!

Get the Staff

1. Next, to get the final piece of the Staff of Ice, you’ll need to find the bull constellation in the Tombs.

2. Like last time, there’s a specific purple crystal that needs to spawn by the staircase near the bull.

3. If it’s not there, find and shoot nearby purple crystal lanterns until it spawns near the constellation.
4. Then, shoot the Roman numerals in order once again.

5. Follow the purple orb and defeat four more waves of enemies in the space nearby.
6. Once this is done, the Staff will appear near the bull, and you can pick it up.

Now that you have both pieces of the Staff of Ice, it’s time to assemble your Wonder Weapon!

How to Craft the Staff of Ice

1. With both the Staff and Head Piece acquired, head back to the Dark Aether using the Door to Nowhere.
2. Interact with the altar to the right of the Pack-a-Punch machine.
3. This will deposit your staff components and start a protection trial.

4. You must now protect the Staff of Ice at the altar while surviving a huge horde of undead enemies. Purple glowing enemies will attempt to attack the staff, while others will target you.
   • We recommend using items such as Molotovs, Decoy Grenades, Field Upgrades such as Energy Mines, or even powerful Scorestreaks to help protect your Wonder Weapon.
5. Once the trial is complete, the enemies will disappear and you can claim the Staff of Ice!

6. If you aren’t able to protect the Staff of Ice, don’t worry! You’ll be able to interact with the staff again next round, and you’ll even keep your crafting progress.

You now have the Staff of Ice – but its true potential only unlocks when you upgrade it into Ull’s Arrow!

How to Upgrade the Staff of Ice to Ull’s Arrow

Shoot Purple Crystals

1. Next, look around the map for a group of three purple crystal lanterns that are close together.
2. You’ll then need to shoot all three with the Staff of Ice within 10 seconds.

3. If this isn’t possible, try breaking the crystals to cause them to spawn elsewhere. Don’t forget that the Staff of Ice has an extremely long range, so you may be able to line up a long-distance shot to make this work.
4. Once you’ve successfully frozen all three purple crystals with the Staff of Ice, your character will have a voice line to indicate that this step is complete.

Find Dark Aether Rocks

1. Next, in the Dark Aether, look to the sky and you’ll be able to find three floating rocks that have a purple, glowing symbol on them.
2. Shoot each rock and they’ll lower down, giving you a closer look at the symbol.

3. Remember all three symbols as if your life depends on it – because it does!
4. One of the four Doors to Nowhere will now seal shut, meaning you’ll have to leave from a different portal.
5. Find the shut Door to Nowhere from its proper location inside The Tomb, and you’ll see it has eight symbols on it.

6. Using the Staff of Ice, shoot the three symbols you saw on the rocks.
7. This will cause the portal to re-open.
   • If you shot the correct symbols, you’ll spawn on a floating platform, ready for the next step.
   • If you shot the incorrect symbols, you’ll spawn high in the air and will fall to your death!

Escort the Orb

1. If you successfully completed the symbol puzzle, you’ll now find yourself on a floating platform in the Dark Aether.
2. Hold interact (Square/X/F) on the purple orb in front of you to begin escorting it.
   • If you’re playing in a Squad, all members of the team must be in the Dark Aether and must escort the orb together for this step to succeed.

3. Stay close to the purple orb while it travels through the Dark Aether, and kill all nearby zombies to power it up.
   • If you fail this step, don’t worry. You can repeat it by heading through the special portal in the following round.
4. Once it has enough zombie souls, the orb will move to the altar. Interact with the altar to power up your Staff of Ice and turn it into Ull’s Arrow!

How to Use the Staff of Ice

The base Staff of Ice can be used to fire icy blasts capable of holding enemies in place. A second shot will break the ice, causing major damage.

• R2/RT/Left Click – Ice Blast

However, when you upgrade the staff into Ull’s Arrow, it gains the following abilities:

• R2/RT/Left Click – Ice Blast
• Hold R2/RT/Left Click – Ice Storm
• Left D-Pad/B – Switch to Sekhmet’s Vigor
• R2/RT/Left Click (in Sekhmet’s Vigor) – Healing Orb

Like the Staff of Ice, Ulls Arrow’s primary fire blasts ice in a given direction.

In addition, holding down the primary fire button allows players to use Ice Storm, charging the staff and slamming it into the ground. This dishes out damage in a wide area, affecting all undead nearby.

Finally, Ull’s Arrow has a healing ability, which can be used to resurrect downed allies form a distance! By turning the staff around using the D-Pad or B Key, it becomes an excellent way to heal your squad!
