After the criticism of last Splatfest’s theme, where one choice was the obvious answer over the others, Nintendo is stepping up its game.
Our next Splatfest is collaborating with the upcoming release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, and getting players to choose their team based on the brand-new Gen 9 Starter Pokemon.

The new Pokemon-themed Splatfest kicks off in Splatoon 3 on Friday, November 11 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET.

The Splatoon x Pokemon Splatfest will end on Sunday, November 13, at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. Don’t forget that the day before the event ends, halftime will kick in and the current winner will have to defend their title in Tricolor Turf Wars!

What Is the Pokemon Splatfest Theme in Splatoon 3?
The theme of the Splatfest this time is: Which first partner Pokémon would you choose? Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type?
It’s certainly implied that your choices are between Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, the new Scarlet & Violet starter Pokemon!
However, the Splatfest could be a chance for you to show your preference for a particular type, as the Pokemon names don’t appear in the Splatfest officially. However, this could be simply due to different regions calling the creatures by differing names.
Last time around, one team stole the Splatfest with over 58% of the total players choosing the same option! This time around, it’s almost certain to be a more even spread.
How to Pick Your Team for the Pokemon Splatfest
To pick your team for the Pokemon x Splatoon 3 Splatfest, you’ll need to wait until the event starts, and then interact with the booth next to where appear in the Splatsville city square.
You’ll be given a unique T-shirt to wear during the event, depending on the team you pick! And don’t forget, your decision (and performance in the Splatfest) will influence the amount of Super Sea Snails you can earn!
