Pre-orders for the new Spider-Man 2 PS5 console plates (AKA console covers) sold out in minutes on their July 28 launch day, but when are they going to restock?
If you missed out on the Spider-Man 2 PS5 console plates, you’re not alone. Being the first AAA game-themed console cover to arrive in the West (Japan got an exclusive set of FF16 plates earlier this year), there was little doubt that the faceplates would be incredibly popular.
Most retailers sold through their stock of console face plates in just a handful of minutes. But when will the Spider-Man 2 console covers get a restock?
When Is the Next Spider-Man 2 PS5 Console Cover Plates Restock?
The Spider-Man 2 PS5 face plates will almost certainly restock both online and in-stores on September 1, 2023.
This is the launch day of the new Limited Edition console covers, alongside the Spider-Man 2 DualSense and console bundle.
And while it’s likely that we’ll see small drops on the lead up to launch day, here are the retailers and times you need to watch:
Best Buy Restock
Restock tracker Jake Randall reassures PS5 console cover hunters that the Spider-Man 2 PS5 plates will restock at Best Buy between 1-2 AM ET on September 1 / 10-11 PM PT on August 31.
Although this time isn’t set in stone, this is the time that Best Buy drops the cast majority of its launch day restocks so it’s one to keep an eye on!
The highly sought-after item will no doubt appear at other retailers as the day goes on. However, seeing as this is the most likely drop we’d definitely recommend putting it in your calendars.
Amazon Restock
Amazon US is the only major retailer that has not sold the Spider-Man PS5 plates yet. We’re still anticipating stock will go live before launch day, as the online store has sold the console covers in both the UK and Canada.
Amazon often releases high-demand products at times of low traffic, such as in the very early hours of the morning in the US time zones.
Right now, the website doesn’t have a listing for the Spider-Man plates, but the moment one does appear, expect to see them go on sale imminently!

Target Restock
Like Best Buy, Target also has a time at which it tends to release launch day stock. Randall expects that the Spider-Man PS5 cover plates will restock at Target between 6-9 AM ET / 3 AM-6 AM PT on September 1, 2023.
Although Best Buy’s launch day restock seems relatively certain, Target’s drop is a bit more up in the air. We recommend watching for a drop at both retailers but definitely make time for Best Buy.
GameStop, Walmart, Antonline & More
It is expected that several retailers will put further stock live for pre-order before the September 1 launch day.
As existing purchases get canceled (or Sony delivers more stock than anticipated to select stores) new waves of pre-orders should become available before long.
And of course, when release date rolls around, we may get stores such as GameStop, Walmart, and other major retailers dropping PS5 covers in-store too.
Will Spider-Man 2 PS5 Plates Restock?
Yes, it is extremely likely that Spider-Man 2 PS5 faceplates will restock at several retailers – at the very least on September 1 (AKA release day).
You may have seen Insomniac Games state on Twitter that plates are ‘unlikely’ to go back in stock. However, we believe that this is likely a reference to PS Direct alone, and not necessarily accurate for all retailers.
Furthermore, Insomniac’s Twitter has been incorrect about stock in the past, such as when the developer stated that the Spider-Man 2 controller would only be sold at PS Direct in the US.
We’ve already seen the Spider-Man 2 PS5 plates come back into stock at Best Buy and even PlayStation Direct on its pre-order release day. However, when the covers do reappear, they often sell out within a few moments.
