After a spectacular launch for Microsoft's new consoles, it's now Sony's turn in the spotlight. And from what we can see, there will be more than a few spotlights at the Sony headquarters as part of a special light show for the PS5 launch.
The PlayStation 5 launch is just around the corner. Many areas of the world are anxious to get their hands on the next-gen console as early as tomorrow.
Others must wait another full week before the hardware launches in their region, and many won't be able to get the PS5 at all. Regardless of the severe stock limitations, Sony is taking the chance to celebrate their console's launch in style.
In the Bay Area, fans noticed a rather bright display coming from Sony's PlayStation headquarters in San Mateo. On Monday night, the company appeared to be testing some of their equipment in preparation for a special event.
PS5 Launch Light Show
It appears that the Sony HQ is looking to put on a spectacular light show for the PS5 launch tomorrow. In fact, some San Mateo residents were quick to notice the tests of a giant beam of light in the sky.
From what we can tell from new footage, two giant screens are undergoing testing for display purposes. In between, there are an array of powerful lights, capable of putting on quite the show.
And beneath these lights, we've got a spectacular PlayStation logo, lit up in the company's iconic blue color scheme. It's sure to be one breathtaking event, and Sony is going all out.
But if you're not celebrating your console launch in style, why bother doing so at all? The last PlayStation launch was 7 years ago, and it's impossible to predict when the next one will come.
Xbox has also been celebrating its new launch, with Microsoft joining Sony in pulling out all the stops. Alongside a 6-hour launch stream, Microsoft hosted a spectacular 4K holographic display for the Xbox Series X on London rooftops.
We'll have to wait and see if PlayStation's display can rival that of its main competition. But we won't have to wait for long, as launch day is right around the corner.
