Sony has just announced PSVR 2 for the first time, revealing its next-gen Virtual Reality headset is coming soon, with major improvements.
It's safe to say that PlayStation VR was a huge success, as Sony dipped its toes into the Virtual Reality industry.
The device gave players the ability to play VR with ease, from the comfort of their own living room. Games such as Resident Evil 7, Beat Saber, Tetris Effect, and more were given new life, and fans have been eager to see more ever since.
Now, VR is more accessible than ever before, thanks to the completely wireless Oculus Quest 2. And Sony is clearly looking to get in on the trend once again.

PSVR 2: Sony's Next-Gen PlayStation VR Features, Improvements, and More
Today, Sony announced that the PSVR 2 is officially in the works for next-gen systems.
The PlayStation VR 2 will feature major improvements over its predecessor, as VR technology has come a long way since 2016.
The next-generation VR system will be coming to PlayStation 5, with "dramatic leaps in performance and interactivity." According to a new press release, players will feel even more immersion when putting on the new headset.
The PSVR 2 features enhanced resolution and greater field of view, as well as better tracking and input. Setups will also become easier, thanks to the device connecting to the PS5 via a single cord.
The next-gen PlayStation VR 2 will, of course, benefit from the staggering power of the PS5, making it necessary for the experience this time around.
Thankfully, there are more PS5 restocks happening at Target very soon, for those without the latest hardware.
One thing PlayStation is certainly excited about is the improvements to the new VR controller. Reportedly, Sony is future-proofing the PS VR2 controller, with features from the exceptional DualSense being integrated.

When Is the PSVR 2 Release Date?
When it comes to a release date for the PlayStation VR 2, Sony's next-gen Virtual Reality headset is still some time away.
According to the recent announcement for the VR technology, the PSVR 2 won't be coming in 2021.
However, Sony states that it wants fans to know about the PlayStation VR 2 early, as the development community is starting to create new worlds to explore in Virtual Reality.
Sony finishes by thanking all prior PS VR players for their continued support. It also states that there's much more to come to PS VR, whether you're playing on PS4 or PS5.
The next-generation VR system isn't actually going to be called the PSVR 2 it seems, but we're excited for its official reveal sometime soon.
Could PSVR2 come to PS5 sooner than expected? We certainly think that a 2022 release isn't off the cards.
Interestingly, it was only months ago that Sony announced it had no plans to bring VR to PS5. All things change with time, but we didn't expect an official PlayStation VR 2 reveal so quickly.
Lately, one industry expert believes they have the solution to the PS5 stock shortage. We wonder if this method would help the PS VR 2 stay in stock for long enough for fans to buy it.
After all, scalpers may snatch up the next-gen VR device just as quickly as they are doing with the PlayStation 5.
