It’s the same old story… Microsoft reveals a first look at Xbox Series X gameplay, while all eyes have now turned to Sony.
Although the Japenese tech giant usually does surprise announcements for the PlayStation 5, it seems that one prominent journalist has spilled the beans on some of their upcoming plans.
When is the PS5 Reveal?
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier – a well-known, reputable industry insider – claims to have some inside information on the PS5
In a recent Press Start podcast, Schreier says “as far as I know, Sony is still on track to do at least one thing by mid-June.” You can find this at the time stamp 38:50 in the following video. We should take this with a pinch of salt, however, due to the current pandemic.
Although Jason Schreier hasn’t clarified what exactly Sony has in store, it looks like it’s going to be the PS5 reveal event. We’ve all heard from two reputable sources now, Jason being the second, that something PS5-related is on the horizon for early June.
PlayStation 5 Reveal Rumors Lines Up With Other Insiders
A short while ago, Venture Beat’s Jeffrey Grubb notes that the PS5 reveal event is “currently planned for June 4” (via a ResetEra post). It looks like the event will take place digitally, as a result of the current pandemic. Grubb also reaffirms that “Sony could still announce hardware before.”
In addition to the PlayStation 5 games, we can also expect to see its price, release date, the console design, and much more. While Sony has confirmed that there will be more PS5 in the coming months, early June will be the perfect opportunity for them to showcase what they have been working on.
The PS5 is coming out in Holiday 2020. With this in mind, its reveal will need to take place in the next few months at the latest anyway. Unless, of course, the current worldwide situation delays its release.
