Players are reporting server communication errors and disconnects from Splatoon 3’s servers, leading to some frustrating problems.
While Splatoon 3 does feature a single-player mode, many fans take to the online portion of the game.
Whether you’re splatting others in Turf War using the best weapons for painting, or you’re grabbing new gear to compete in Ranked, the online mode is the most played in Splatoon 3.
However, issues can arise when a game is so focused on multiplayer, as servers are never perfect. It seems that the Splatoon 3 servers are particularly troublesome, as many players are reporting errors and disconnects.
Server Communication Error & Disconnects Frustrate Splatoon 3 Players
Many Splatoon 3 fans are reporting plenty of disconnects and server communication errors in Splatoon 3 recently.

One post in the r/Splatoon_3 subreddit is specifically gaining traction in the community. While the Splatoon 3 subreddit is fairly small, this post has had over 25 comments already sharing a similar sentiment.
Redditor u/SploogeMcDucc shared an image of the pop-up server communication error notice, appearing over the end of the match screen in Splatoon 3. The user reports they were punished for this when they went back into the game.
We noted similar issues of disconnections and server problems in our Splatoon 3 review. It seems to have not been solved yet.
The punishments are that players will lose not only their XP earned from the match, but it counts as a loss on their record.
However, the most annoying thing is that players will lose their food and drink ticket uses if they disconnect. Or, if another player disconnects at the start and you’re all kicked out.
So if this issue has been plaguing you, we recommend stocking up on food and drink tickets in Splatoon 3.
How to Minimize Server Connection Errors or Disconnects in Splatoon 3
There’s no surefire way of slowing down or stopping these issues in Splatoon 3. However, here are some ideas to help:
- Play closer to your router
- Turn off the Wi-Fi on some of your devices
- The more devices on your Wi-Fi, the more stressful it can be on your internet.
- Check sites like speedtest.net to make sure your internet is performing how it should be
There is reportedly an update coming this week (September 29/30) to reduce these problems. Nevertheless, these are good ideas to help with any future issues.
