There are many ways to improve and add power to your gear in Diablo 4 – it’s an essential part of the late game.

Great power comes with even greater upgrade costs, often requiring extremely rare materials. Scattered Prisms are one of the rarest of these upgrade materials.

Here’s all you need to know to find and use Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4.

What Are Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4?

Scattered Prisms are a type of rare material used by the Jeweler vendor to add Sockets to your equipment. This allows you to add Gems, Runes, and Jewels to your gear.

Though not very useful early on, the ability to add sockets to your gear becomes an essential part of increasing your character’s power in the late and end game.

How to Get Scattered Prisms

You can find Scattered Prisms in three ways:

  1. Killing World Bosses
  2. As random drops from Treasure Goblins
  3. Salvaging Legendary gear

As the chance for Scattered Prisms to drop from defeating Treasure Goblins or salvaging Legendary gear is random, the most reliable way to get them is by defeating World Bosses.

How to Farm World Bosses to Get Scattered Prisms

Defeating a World Boss will give you one Scattered Prism – there are three World Bosses that will spawn on rotations every 6 hours in Diablo 4.

They seem to spawn at random intervals at one of five locations in Sanctuary.

The best way to track them down is to look out for World Boss notifications that will appear on your map at one of these locations 30 minutes before they spawn.

It’s important to note that you must complete the campaign first before you can receive these World Boss notifications. Though, you can still fight them if you find yourself at the right place at the right time.

World Boss encounters are extremely difficult fights, requiring upwards of 20 players to work together to take down. However, their rewards are more than worth the effort.

The three current World Bosses and their spawn locations are:

  1. Ashava, the Pestilent
    • The Crucible (Fractured Peaks)
    • Caen Adar (Scosglen)
    • Saraan Caldera (Dry Steppes)
    • Fields of Desecration (Hawezar)
  2. Avarice
    • Seared Basin (Kehjistan)
    • Caen Adar (Scosglen)
    • Saraan Caldera (Dry Steppes)
    • Fields of Desecration (Hawezar)
  3. Wandering Death
    • The Crucible (Fractured Peaks)

    • Saraan Caldera (Dry Steppes)

How to Get Scattered Prisms from Treasure Goblins

Scattered Prisms have a chance to drop when you defeat Treasure Goblins out in Sanctuary.

As Treasure Goblins can spawn randomly anywhere in Sanctuary, you’re likely going to have a difficult time trying to track them down.

Scattered Prisms also only have a random chance of dropping when you defeat one, making this an unreliable method for farming.

How to Get Scattered Prisms From Salvaging Gear

Salvaging your Legendary gear at the Blacksmith has a random chance of dropping a Scattered Prism.

However, the chance of this is low but increases depending on its power level. The best way to use this method is to run through dungeons and defeat Elite enemies while playing on higher World Tiers.

Most importantly, this increases the chance for Legendary gear to drop. The more you have, the more chances you get at receiving a Scattered Prism when salvaging.

How to Use Scattered Prisms

You can upgrade and add sockets to gear pieces using any Jeweler you come across.

  1. Head to a Jeweler
  2. Go to the ‘Add Socket‘ tab
  3. Select the piece of gear you would like to add a socket to
  4. Pay the fee in gold and materials

That is how you find and use Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4. It is a great way to add more power to your gear to prepare for the endgame.
