There's a new Operator coming to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, and Samantha Maxis will be a familiar face to many.
Those with the Call of Duty Zombies storyline will recognize the name Samantha Maxis. In fact, the character has been a part of the story since the original World of War Zombies mode.
Since then, we've seen Samantha Maxis grow up from a small child all the way into an adult - and she's become something of a legend in the process.
Samantha Maxis has appeared in every Black Ops mainline game to date, and she has her biggest role yet in Cold War. Now, in the Firebase Z main Easter egg, players must save Maxis from the Omega Group.
Who Is Samantha Maxis?
Samantha Maxis is actually something of an antagonist in parts of the original Aether Zombies storyline. Over the years, Maxis has been both a villain and an ally of the players, as well as being the voice of the Demonic Announcer.
Daughter to Ludvig Maxis, creator of the zombies and Hellhounds, it's safe to say that Samantha has been through some trauma. The character has been experimented on, body-swapped, and corrupted by the Dark Aether.
Most recently, the character has spent a lot of time in the shadowy hellscape of the Dark Aether. Thanks to time dilation in the alternate dimension, she's aged more rapidly than expected before players were able to rescue her.
Samantha Maxis Operator Leaked for Cold War and Warzone
In a recent datamine of Cold War's latest update, one Twitter user has found evidence of Samantha Maxis becoming an Operator.
The same leaker, TailsDoll711, was also responsible for leaking the 4 new Black Ops Cold War Season 2 weapons.
It looks as though Samantha Maxis will also drop in Season 2, in an exclusive new bundle. In the Samantha Maxis Reactive Bundle, players will be able to unlock the new character as well as other cosmetics.
Interestingly, the bundle's description also refers to a reactive Blueprint. Whatever weapon it's referencing will reportedly evolve as players get kills in-game.
This won't be the only reactive bundle coming to the game either, as the Tracer Pack: Rosé Reactive Bundle is also in the Cold War files. The Pink tracer rounds weapon will evolve with each kill, like Maxis' bundle.
We can see the Rosé Reactive Bundle releasing around Valentine's Day this year. With that in mind, perhaps we won't have to wait long to see Samantha Maxis in action either.
Black Ops Cold War players are currently angry at Activision over the game's terrible League Play implementation. Meanwhile, Warzone has another invisibility issue causing havoc in-game.
Hopefully, the Call of Duty titles will be able to fix these issues, before the start of Cold War and Warzone Season 2.
