How Salvage Works in Black Ops 6 Zombies

Salvage returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, but how exactly does the mechanic work, and what can it be used for?

Black Ops 6 Zombies is bringing back many classic systems and features from older titles, but one more recent addition to make a comeback is Salvage.

This collectible component was introduced in Treyarch’s previous title, Black Ops Cold War, and has since been featured in Vanguard Zombies (also developed by the team at Treyarch).

Now, Salvage is back in Black Ops 6 Zombies, with a few changes that fans should be aware of.

What Is Salvage?

Salvage is a form of currency in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies.

Alongside Essence (earned primarily from slaying enemies), it acts as one of the main two currencies that users must manage throughout the game.

Players can collect Salvage throughout their Zombies match, but all obtained currency will be lost upon the match’s conclusion, whether it ends with a successful escape or death.

Salvage resembles small piles of junk on the ground and can be manually collected by all players.

Unlike in Cold War Zombies, there is no longer a difference between normal and High-Grade Salvage, leaving players with only a single type of Salvage to worry about collecting.

How to Get Salvage in Black Ops 6 Zombies

Salvage is dropped at random by defeated enemies in Black Ops 6 Zombies, meaning that the best way to collect Salvage is to eliminate a large group of undead.

The currency does not drop at higher quantities based on the method by which enemies are dispatched. Instead, it is a random drop, meaning that players could be lucky or unlucky with the amount dropped by enemies.

However, in an improvement over Cold War and Vanguard Zombies, Salvage drops are now player-specific. This means that all users will see different Salvage drops, and there’s no chance of one player hogging all of your hard-earned loot.

It should also mean that there’s more Salvage to go around, given that each enemy could drop up to four pieces of Salvage (one per player).

What Can It Be Used For?

Salvage can be used in a number of useful ways at the Arsenal Machine or Crafting Table in Black Ops 6 Zombies:

You’ll need Salvage to build the powerful new Mutant Injection – a special piece of Support Equipment that transforms players into a Mangler!

However, unlike in previous titles, players won’t be able to use Salvage to upgrade their Armor. Instead, new Armor Level Wall Buys will be essential to helping players stay healthy and bite-free.

And that’s not the only big change coming to Wall Buys in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
