Special Officer Russell Adler was one of the highlights of Black Ops Cold War, and now we’ve got confirmation that he’s returning in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6!

Call of Duty has a long history of iconic characters, from the likes of Captain Price to Alex Mason. But it’s not often that a modern COD title features a brand-new character that immediately becomes a fan favorite.

However, that was certainly the case with Russell Adler, who we can now report is 100% returning for Black Ops 6.

Earlier today, we got the first live action trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, featuring the likes of Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, and Saddam Hussein.

However, despite Hussein being present on the thumbnail of the teaser trailer, the official Call of Duty website mistakenly uploaded the Reveal Trailer image instead.

It appears that the Black Ops 6 Direct on June 9, 2024, is set to reveal Adler’s return. And thanks to Activision’s error, we’ve been able to get a glimpse of the CIA agent’s face a little earlier than anticipated!

The image appears to have been removed from Call of Duty’s website, but that didn’t stop some quick-on-the-draw fans from catching it early.

We already knew that Adler survived Black Ops Cold War’s cliffhanger ending, in which he and Bell attempt to shoot one another before the game cuts to black. But it’s still great to see him back in another major Call of Duty title.

And it seems that Adler won’t be the only familiar face to return in Black Ops 6…

Frank Woods Is Back

As if there was any doubt, it appears that Frank Woods will be making a return in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

First appearing in the original Black Ops, Woods has since reappeared in Black Ops 2, Black Ops: Declassified, and Black Ops Cold War.

He was also playable in the Blackout mode of Black Ops 4, despite the series entry not having a campaign mode.

In one of Activision’s mysterious The Truth Lies teasers for Black Ops 6, we hear that new episodes of the non-existent show “Frank’s Woods” are set to arrive soon.

This can only be a tease for the return of Woods, a staple character in Treyarch’s storyline.

Given that the soldier survived the events of Cold War, it makes sense that he’d reappear in Black Ops 6, which appears to be set a decade after its predecessor.
