Cyberpunk 2077 is here! But it also comes with a whole host of errors and bugs. Here are our recommended best settings to improve performance when running Cyberpunk 2077 on PC.
While Cyberpunk 2077 has received high praise from reviewers, critics and gamers alike are less impressed with all the bugs and glitches that have appeared online.
The game suffers from framerate dips, texture pops, blurring, slowdowns, and just general low-performance issues on PC.
The game is clearly unfinished and requires some polish, but the good news is we expect many of these issues to be temporary. It’s likely that the developers are already working on patches and updates to fix these issues.
We already know that Cyberpunk 2077’s day one patch is rather sizable. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume more solutions are inbound.
But until then, fans are going to want to enjoy the game in a way that limits the bugs and other problems. Many of which are impeding the game’s visual fidelity.
It may be considered a compromise by some, but when it comes to running Cyberpunk 2077, adjusting your settings may be the best way to improve performance. Especially when running Cyberpunk 2077 on PC.
Our team has been up since midnight checking the game out. We’ve tried running Cyberpunk on consoles and PC.
We noticed plenty of the visual bugs on PC, so here’s what we’d recommend changing in the settings to run Cyberpunk 2077 more smoothly.
Best Settings to Improve Performance When Running Cyberpunk 2077 On PC:
- Switch Film Grain to off
- Change Chromatic Aberration to Off
- Turn Motion Blur to Off
- Change Cascaded Shadow Resolution to Low
- Switch DLSS to ‘Performance’ – if problems persist, turn it off
- Turn Ray Tracing Off
Turning off ray tracing provided for a considerable boost to frames. However, we did so with a very heavy heart – as it looks incredible when it works correctly.
We discovered that we could turn it back on in less crowded areas. But when we entered a location with lots of things going on or people on screen, the framerate dipped back to 30fps.
More Tips to Improve Performance When Running Cyberpunk 2077 On PC
- If you’re using an Nvidia graphics cards, take advantage of their sharpening feature in the overlays. This seemingly offsets any blurriness caused by DLSS – Thanks to Redditor Elanzer for this tip.
- Change the Cascading Shadows Resolution from high to medium; this pushes low framerates back to 60fps in most areas. Thanks to Redditor Cohibaluxe for this tip.
- In your settings, adjust the dead zone from 0.03 to 0.01 to make aiming easier during screen blurring.
We know none of these changes are not ideal. In truth, you shouldn’t have to make any adjustments to enjoy the game. Especially when it comes to compromising on the visuals to enable adequate performance.
But we imagine these issues are only temporary and that a fix is incoming soon, as the Cyberpunk 2077 devs release more updates.
Let’s not forget, Cyberpunk 2077 has earned positive reviews despite its major problems. We have every faith that the game will be the one we’ve hoped for in time.
