Rockstar Games has officially aquired Ruffian Games, with an announcement leaked through documents in the UK.
Rockstar and 2K Games released a statement to make official the developers' purchase based in Dundee, Scotland. The companies celebrated their new relationship and confirmed they would collaborate on various projects in the future.
Sam Houser, founder & CEO of Rockstar Games, welcomed the members of Ruffian Games and highlighted the work they have done in the industry over the years. The studio has worked on the Crackdown series, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and several Microsoft Studios projects.

Ruffian Games will operate under a new name
Rockstar Games didn't disclose the acquisition's terms in the press release; however, they confirmed Ruffian Games would operate under a new name: Rockstar Dundee. Gary Liddon and Billy Thomson, head and creative director of the studio, will continue to lead the developer.
According to the details, Rockstar Dundee will be made up of just over 40 original Ruffian Games employees. Meanwhile, the company is already seeking new employees for various departments.
