Resident Evil Village ‘Maiden’ Demo Is Now Available For Download

Following the Showcase event, the Resident Evil Village ‘Maiden’ demo is now available for download. Here’s what you need to know.

Those keen to get their first taste of Resident Evil Village gameplay now can by downloading the Maiden demo. The only caveat is you’ll need to own a PS5 to download it.

That’s right; the first demo is a PS5 exclusive. But don’t panic, a multiplatform second demo will be arriving in the next few months.

PS5 owners will be able to download the demo from the PSN store for free – right now.

Resident Evil Village Maiden Details

We don’t want to tell you too much, as it wouldn’t be fair to reveal any spoilers, but here are the basics:

The demo took us around 30 minutes to complete, and this was taking our time and exploring every nook and cranny. It reminded us very much of the ‘First Hour’ demo from Resident Evil 7, which itself was inspired by PT.

So if you’re interested in exploratory survival horror, you’ll really dig the Maiden demo. There’s no combat, but there are some surprises – and it gave us a real taste of RE Village’s flavor and atmosphere.

Fans of the first and fourth Resident Evil will get a real kick out of it, as it’s clear the demo is channeling them both. Which in our minds, can only be a good thing.

Players will take control of the titular ‘Maiden’ as she escapes the Village castle dungeon and tries to find her way out of the castle.

The castle is seemingly the home of Resident Evil 8’s bad guys, so quite why the Maiden is there is unlikely to be for a good reason. Something which makes us fear for her safety!

For the main game players will take control of Ethan Winters once again, the protagonist of Resident Evil 7. Poor guy can’t catch a break.

What Else Do We Know About Resident Evil Village?

We’ve actually done an entire article about everything we know about Resident Evil Village. We also covered the Resident Evil Showcase event in full yesterday – read all the details here.

The Showcase event didn’t just mention Resident Evil Village. Capcom also announced RE: Verse, an online multiplayer game that will release as part of the Resident Evil series 25th Anniversary celebrations.

It will be bundled with RE Village but will also sell separately for those who don't buy Village.

Sadly, the event didn’t reveal anything about the rumored Resident Evil 4 remake or Nintendo Switch title Resident Evil Outrage. There’s been no approval from Capcom so far about either of these.

Finally, the Showcase event confirmed that the Netflix movie Resident Evil Infinite Darkness will be released this year. One of three Resi TV/movie projects currently in the works.

As Resident Evil has never been bigger, we’ve compiled a list of every Resident Evil project currently in development to help you keep track.

This includes RE: Verse, an online shooter releasing alongside Resident Evil Village. We've also leaned more about the Resident Evil 4 remake.

Resident Evil Village will release internationally on the 7th of May 2021 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS4, Xbox One.
