The PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch OLED are still in short supply as retailers prepare for Black Friday 2021.
If you’re still in the market for a next-gen console or Nintendo upgrade, it’s a difficult time right now. Not only did October get off to a bad stock with restocks in general but Black Friday isn’t helping matters much either.
The last week has not been a good one for PS5, Xbox Series X, or even Nintendo Switch OLED drops. This is likely due to many retailers wanting to ensure their stock levels are high for the Black Friday sales.
Of course, that does mean that we’re expecting big things from the retail holiday period. And we’ve actually got a few hints at upcoming drops already.
Thankfully, you won’t need to actually head into stores to take advantage of many of the offers. And if you’re lucky, you may not have to wait until Black Friday either!
After all, this PS5 restock should be happening very soon!
And on top of that, we’ve got new word of a Nintendo Switch OLED restock dropping as early as next week!
Black Friday Causing PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch OLED Shortages?
Is Black Friday the reason why we’re experiencing major next-gen shortages in October 2021?
Recently, we saw improvements to PS5 and Xbox Series X stock in October. However, we don’t bank on it continuing, for the simple reason that Black Friday is just around the corner.
Because of that fact, we’re definitely seeing some retailers act a little more conservative with their drops.
Restock tracker Matt Swider believes that some retailers are busy amassing sufficient stock for Black Friday, a claim we believe to be accurate. After all, there’s evidence that Walmart is hoarding PS5 consoles despite having orders going unfulfilled!
This makes sense from a business perspective, as the company wants as many users as possible to sign up for its new membership system. And seeing as Walmart Plus members get a 4 hour early access window for Black Friday sales, a lot of gamers will certainly be inclined to take advantage.
And it looks like Walmart+ members will get an early shot at Black Friday consoles of all kinds!
With last week being an especially quiet week for Switch OLED drops, we imagine many retailers also want to stock Nintendo’s new console this coming holiday.
But GameStop appears to have Switch OLED consoles available for walk-ins, and other stores like Target are following suit! Perhaps it won’t be necessary to wait for the holiday after all.
Still, make sure you’re ready for Black Friday this year, as it’s sure to be a big one.
After all, thousands of gamers queued up for the recent Best Buy in-store PS5 and Xbox restock. We expect a similar situation if some stores have consoles in stock on Black Friday.
However, this leaked Black Friday PS5 and Xbox Series X ad suggests that some stores’ sales will be online-only. Let’s hope that new membership fees put some scalpers off snatching up stock before we get a shot at it.
