PS5 Stock Shortages Continuing Until Next Year, Says Report

Those of you hoping the PS5 will come back in stock soon may be very disappointed by the upcoming shortages.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 came out in November last year, but it is even harder to get hold of one now than it was at launch. Gamers across the world have to wait for restocks of the consoles and hope that they can snag one before they all sell out.

Unfortunately, it looks like this shortage won’t end any time soon either. New reports suggest that the low PS5 stock could last until 2022.

PS5 Supply Shortage Until 2022?

The PS5 has been hugely successful and popular worldwide since it released. See how many PS5 consoles have been sold so far.

However, Bloomberg reports that a Sony executive warned in a private briefing that the PS5 stock shortage will probably continue until next year.

This is a huge disappointment to PlayStation fans as the PS5 will have “more exclusives than ever before”.

This includes upcoming rumored games like the remake of The Last Of Us as well as the upcoming Spider-Man 2, which has had some major details leaked.

According to Bloomberg’s anonymous sources, Sony Chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki said this about PS5 shortages:

“I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand,”

The reason behind this would be the well-documented shortage of components for consoles. This is even worse than initially thought as it was previously reported that the PS5 and Xbox Series X stock shortage will only last until Summer.

This could be one of the reasons why Sony is allegedly planning a new PS5 redesign.

Therefore, many unfortunate gamers will probably be waiting until 2022 to get a PS5 because of the shortage. But don’t give up hope just yet – there will still be some limited PS5 restocks soon.
