Predicting Which Games May Come to The PS5 PS Plus Library In 2021

The PS Plus Library on PS5 is the jewel in the crown for PS Plus membership on PS5. But how will Sony expand it as we move into 2021?

Many new PS5 owners were impressed to discover that ownership of a PS5 and a subscription to PS Plus entitled them to a selection of free games.

While the games are all PS4 games, having them included in the membership on PS5 is rather exciting. Each is a triple-A title and has a considerable following.

In short, it’s an impressive list that will have something to please everyone. What’s even more exciting is the PS Plus library will continue to grow throughout 2021.

Here’s what’s included so far:

Current PS Plus Collection:

  • Bloodborne
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
  • Monster Hunter: World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 5
  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

What Other Titles Could Come to The PS Plus Library?

After looking at what’s included, our money is on more triple-A titles coming to the PS Plus library throughout 2021. We also expect many to be Sony exclusives too.

This is because Sony won’t have to work that hard to make it happen. In many ways, they already control where such games go, so adding them to the PS Plus library seems a no brainer.

Games like the Last Guardian, God of War, Bloodborne, and The Last of Us for example, represent some of the PS4’s best-loved exclusive titles. Which PS4 games could soon join them?

Gran Turismo Sport

The PS Plus Library is missing some driving games and what better than Sony’s flagship racing franchise? Gran Turismo Sport is an excellent addition to the series - and its debut on PS4. At some point in 2021, Sony will want to promote Gran Turismo 7 on PS5; how better to do this than by giving PS5 owners a taste of the previous entry?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The FF7 remake is just getting started after its stellar first episode. FF7 Episode 2 will be making its way to PS5 in the future. Even if it’s not 2021, we expect FF7 Episode 1 will make an excellent addition to the PS Plus library. It could even help promote FF16 when the time comes.

Ghosts of Tsushima

Ghosts of Tsushima offers one of the best open worlds ever seen in videogame form. As it’s one of the last great games of PS4, we expect Sony will be keen to get it upgraded to PS5 when they can. But they could go another way and offer the game as a perk of PS Plus membership through the Library.

The Order: 1886

While not the hit Sony hoped it would be, The Order: 1886 was an awesome steampunk romp through Victorian London – while shooting werewolves. Many fans are still holding out for a sequel. But whether they get it or they don’t, seeing The Order on the PS Plus Library could reignite interest in one of the PS4’s most under-appreciated first-party games.

Shadow of the Colossus

As the Last Guardian is already part of the PS Plus Library, we think it’s more successful older brother may also join it in time. The Shadow of the Colossus remake on PS4 is a must-play for those who enjoyed Ico or The Last Guardian. Out of all the first-party Sony titles, this one deserves its place in the library more than any.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Nate’s fourth adventure is already part of the PS Plus Library, but it seems criminal not to add the remaster of his first three outings. The Nathan Drake Collection seems like an obvious addition to the library. And with Uncharted: Lost Legacy rumored to be coming to PS Plus in January, why not complete the set?

Horizon: Zero Dawn

We believe it’s a matter of when with this one rather than if. While Shadow of the Colossus may be the most deserving title, Horizon seems the most likely. A Sony exclusive triple-A title that offers a sizeable open-world adventure, it already sounds like many games in the library. Let’s not forget, it will also help promote the sequel, which is coming to PS5 in the near future.

Horizon Forbidden West PS5

Nioh

Both Nioh games are being remastered for the PS5. But the second game is relatively new, yet the first seems perfectly suited to the PS Plus Library. It’s a Sony exclusive and really shows off what a PS4 title is capable of when played on PS5. Fans of SoulsBorne games will also lap it up.

We expect to learn more about what will be added to the PS Plus Library soon as Sony starts adding titles. Here’s what’s coming to PS Plus in January 2021.
