The PS5 offers excellent new 3D audio to help users make the most of their gaming experiences. However, some PS5 fans are already encountering poor sound quality through their headsets on certain games.
3D Audio is one of the best additions to the PS5's feature list. Adding detailed 3D sound into your gameplay, there's a reason so many fans were eager to pick up a Pulse 3D Wireless headset.
However, if you're trying to play Warzone and you're getting poor sound quality, there's a reason why. Not all games support the PlayStation's new 3D Audio feature just yet, and it's leading to some reports of grainy sound coming through headsets.

Thankfully, there's a solution to these issues, and it's a simple one. The best-selling PS5 headset isn't going in the trash just yet.
What is PS5 3D Audio?
For those unaware, the PS5 boasts new 3D audio, with the new Tempest 3D AudioTech engine. This system is capable of simulating audio coming from a mixture of directions all at once.
In essence, wearing a 3D audio headset should allow players to feel naturally immersed in the gameplay. As you get closer to noise sources, you'll hear amplified sound, and enemy footsteps have never been clearer.

In theory, 3D audio should allow players to hear three-dimensional sound, coming from above and below, as well as from all around the user. It's what makes the PS5 Pulse 3D headphones worth buying.
Using your Pulse 3D Wireless headset or any other 3D audio enabled headset gives you an advantage over the competition. However, this doesn't work so well on backward compatible titles.
How to Fix PS5 Headset Muffled Audio
Playing a PS4 game like Call of Duty: Warzone with 3D audio enabled leads players to encounter muffled or grainy sound quality. The technology is likely designed to work flawlessly with PS5 titles, but older games aren't optimized for 3D audio.
Games like Warzone may see a fix whenever a next-gen patch comes out for the software. But for now, many headset users are upset at just how bad their gameplay sounds.

If you're one of the users experiencing poor sound quality when using your PS5, here's a fix:
- From the PS5 dashboard, head to Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Sound.
- Scroll down to Audio Output.
- Toggle Enable 3D Audio to off
3D audio is enabled by default, but many players find that the setting is the cause of the muffled, grainy sound. Leave this setting off for a while, and you may find fuller, better sounding audio coming through once more.

In the past, Sony has alluded to allowing players to use 3D audio through television speakers. Hopefully, this means that the company is not yet done tinkering with the technology.
When a fix comes for the 3D audio sound issues, be sure to enable the feature once again and see how it differs. But for now, it's probably better to leave it off when playing PS4 games.
After all, when the new Warzone map drops with Cold War Season 1, the last thing you want is to be at a disadvantage.
And headsets aren't the only PS5 accessories with issues at the moment. In fact, the PS5's DualSense is already suffering from stick drift.
