Poltchageist has just been revealed for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and it’s another tea-themed Pokemon.

The Pokemon Company reports that the new Pokemon is “from the land of Kitakami” which confirms that Poltchageist is coming in Scarlet & Violet’s first phase of DLC.

That means you’ll only have to wait until September 13, 2023 to catch it for yourself!

Poltchageist Revealed for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC

It’s official, Poltchageist is a brand-new matcha green tea-themed Pokemon set to join us in Scarlet & Violet’s first DLC: The Teal Mask.

The Pokemon is closely related to Sinistea and Polteageist, Pokemon’s previous tea-themed creatures, but with a matcha twist.

Instead of a teacup and teapot, Poltchageist more closely resembles a Japanese matcha tea caddy!

Poltchageist and Tinkerton

Legend has it that Poltchageist contains the spirit of a man who was obsessed with mastering the Japanese tea ceremony. The mischievous Pokemon finds itself upset at humans who don’t respect the art of tea-making, or who waste food, or treat their utensils poorly.

By sprinkling its enemies with matcha, Poltchageist can reabsorb the green tea particles, sapping a creature’s life force. As such, in Kitakami, even flavoring foods with matcha is forbidden!

It can also use matcha to repair cracks using the Japanese art of Kintsugi, swapping out the usual gold for tea.

Check out Poltchagiest’s full reveal and its in-game trailer below:

Poltchageist was first teased after select creators were invited to a special green tea ceremony, where they were taught to prepare and appreciate matcha tea.

Afterwards, creators were gifted their very own tea sets, with a suspicious date of August 22 printed on the side of the box.

What Type is Poltchageist?

Poltchageist is a Grass/Ghost-Type Pokemon, introduced in Scarlet & Violet’s DLC.

This makes the Pokemon weak to Poison and Steel-type attacks. On the other hand Dark, Bug, and Fighting-Type moves will deal less damage to it.

Interestingly, both Sinistea and Polteageist were purely Ghost-Type, but green tea seems to lend itself more to the Grass persuasion.
