Liko and Roy are taking the reigns from Ash Ketchum as the new protagonists of the Pokemon anime after 26 years. But who are these mysterious new trainers?
Liko and Roy will be dual protagonists in the upcoming Pokemon Horizons anime, set to debut on April 14 in Japan.
As for how that will work, look no further than the recent Pokemon Journeys anime series, which featured both Ash and Goh in equal parts.
But before the upcoming anime series arrives, here’s everything you need to know about Liko and Roy.

Who Is Liko in Pokemon?
Liko is the Pokemon anime’s first female protagonist, a young girl from the Paldea region. She owns a mysterious pendant, though its purpose is currently unknown.
Notably, Liko’s hairpin resembles the Pokemon League logo on Ash’s original hat. This has caused a lot of rumors about Liko and her potential connection to the original anime protagonist.
For now though, there’s no official word from The Pokemon Company as to the nature of their relationship and the hairpin is likely to simply be a nod to the anime’s origins.
But could Ash Ketchum actually be coming back to Pokemon sooner than we think?

Who Is Liko’s Voice Actor in Pokemon Anime?
Liko is played by Minori Suzuki, a 25-year-old voice actor who first began acting with her role as Freyja Wion in the anime Macross Delta.
Since then, Minori has voiced Angie Yonaga, the Ultimate Artist in the video game Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.
She has also voiced Akiho Shinomoto in the anime series Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card and even appeared in one episode of Pokemon Journeys as Regina.
Minori Suzuki is also known for her singing prowess, having performed the opening theme to the anime Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles. She also sang as part of the fictional idol group Walküre in Macross Delta.

Liko’s English voice actor is yet to be revealed. We’ll update this article when The Pokemon Company reveals more.
Who Is Roy in Pokemon?
Roy is the male protagonist of the new Pokemon anime. He owns a mysterious Poke Ball that looks unlike any other we’ve seen previously, and its purpose is currently unknown.
He wears an R form Unown design on his shirt, seemingly a reference to the first letter of his name. Like Ash Ketchum, Roy comes from the Kanto region.

Who Is Roy’s Voice Actor in Pokemon Anime?
Roy is voiced by Yuka Terasaki, a 39-year-old accomplished voice actor. Like Ash Ketchum, Roy is voiced by a female actress.
Like Liko’s voice actor, Yuka Terasaki also featured in Macross Delta, and she has also had roles in a huge array of other anime series such as Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, Inazuma Eleven Go, Hunter x Hunter, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
Interestingly, Yuka has also performed in the Pokemon anime extensively, as the voice of Ash’s Noibat, Fletchling & Fletchinder, as well other various speaking roles such as Gym Leader Korrina or Kindergarten Teacher Penelope.

Roy’s English voice actor is yet to be revealed. We’ll update this article when The Pokemon Company reveals more.
