Best Counters To Mega Gengar

Mega Gengar Type Weakness

This Pokemon is a Ghost/Poison type, meaning there are a few types that are super effective against it! These are:

  • Ground
  • Ghost
  • Psychic
  • Dark

Moves of these types will deal 160% damage. However, there are also 6 types that Mega Gengar is resistant to. These are:

  • Grass
  • Fairy
  • Normal
  • Poison
  • Bug
  • Fighting

Grass and Fairy moves will deal 63% damage. Normal, Poison, and Bug deal even less damage at only 39% however, Fighting moves should be avoided at all costs. Fighting moves only deal 24% damage!

Best Pokemon To Use In Mega Gengar Raids

Below is a list of the top 5 Pokemon we recommend using against this raid boss. This is due to their ability to access moves that are super effective against the boss.

Stats And Moves

Just like the regular version of Gengar, its Mega evolution has the potential to be Shiny. Its stats are:

  • Stamina: 155
  • Defense: 199
  • Attack: 349

With such a high attack, Mega Gengar is stronger than even legendary Pokemon such as Dialga! However, the trade-off for such a high attack stat is lower Stamina and Defense stats, both of which are somewhat lacking.

Mega Gengar has access to the following moves:

Fast Moves

  • Sucker Punch (Dark)
  • Shadow Claw (Ghost)*
  • Hex (Ghost)*
  • Lick (Ghost – can be taught through the use of an Elite TM)*

Charged Attacks

  • Shadow Ball (Ghost)*
  • Sludge Bomb (Poison)*
  • Focus Blast (Fighting)
  • Dark Pulse (Dark – can be taught through the use of an Elite TM)
  • Shadow Punch (Ghost – can be taught through the use of an Elite TM)*
  • Sludge Wave (Poison – can be taught through the use of an Elite TM)*
  • Psychic (Psychic – can be taught through the use of an Elite TM)

This Pokemon is one you certainly want to add to your team lineup!

Recently, players were able to catch a Shadow Latios in Pokemon GO! And some fans even had the chance to nab an exclusive rare Pokemon – Mow Rotom.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing for the community. Recently, players have been disappointed about the new Weekly Event Box offerings which they deemed “worthless” as well as being outraged over the July Community Day.

If nothing else, players will be able to catch plenty of Dittos as we now know the disguises it uses this July.
