Best Counters To Mega Charizard Y
Mega Charizard Y Type Weakness
Unlike the Charizard X form, Mega Charizard Y keeps the original typing as a Fire/Flying Pokemon. As such there are 7 Pokemon types that it is resistant to:
Most of these moves using these types will only deal 63% damage. The exceptions are Bug and Grass, which deal a tiny 39% damage!
However, there are 3 types that are super-effective against this raid boss. Utilize the following to take it down quickly & easily:
Water & Electric type moves will deal 160% damage to the boss. Rock type moves will deal a whopping 256% damage to Mega Charizard Y due to both Fire and Flying being weak to Rock types!
Best Pokemon To Use In Mega Charizard Y Raids
Below is a list of Pokemon we would recommend using during this raid! We’ve put together our top 5 picks:
- Aerodactyl (If possible using its mega evolution)
- Lycanroc (Either form is usable)
- Golem (both regular form & Alolan form)
Each of these Pokemon have access to moves that are super-effective against the raid boss. Many also have access to Rock type moves, allowing players to capitalize on the double weakness!
Stats And Moves
Once caught Mega Charizard Y has some impressive stats! It is also great for shiny hunters, as it has the potential to be shiny!
Its stats are as follows:
- Attack: 319
- Stamina: 186
- Defense: 212
With such a high attack stat this Pokemon is perfect to use in tough gym battles or raids! Furthermore, it has access to the following moves:
- Air Slash (Flying)
- Fire Spin (Fire)
- Ember (Fire) (Can be taught through an Elite TM)
- Wing Attack (Flying) (Can be taught through an Elite TM)
- Dragon Breath (Dragon) (Can be taught through an Elite TM)
- Dragon Claw (Dragon)
- Fire Blast (Fire)
- Overheat (Fire)
- Flamethrower (Fire) (Can be taught through an Elite TM)
- Blast Burn (Fire) (Can be taught through an Elite TM)
All moves except Dragon Breath & Dragon Claw will gain a 20% attack bonus due to STAB (same type attack bonus)
