Pokemon GO holds a Festival of Lights celebration every year, and the 2023 edition is one of the most exciting yet!
This year’s Pokemon GO Festival of Lights has plenty of familiar Pokemon in the spotlight, from Morelull to Litwick, but the headline addition is two new Electric-types from the Paldea region.
In addition to these new Pokemon, there’s a new shiny, an updated selection of wild spawns, a new 7km Egg, and plenty more for players to enjoy in the celebration!
Date & Time
The 2023 Pokemon GO Festival of Lights event starts at 10 AM local time on November 7 and ends at 8 PM local time on November 12.

New Pokemon
Two new Pokemon and a brand-new shiny Pokemon are coming to Pokemon GO at the start of the 2023 Festival of Lights event. They are:
- Tadbulb
- Bellibolt
- Shiny Morelull
You will be able to get Tadbulb from wild spawns, Incense encounters and Field Research tasks. Then, you can use 50 Tadbulb Candy to evolve it into Bellibolt.
Meanwhile, any Morelull you find in Pokemon GO from now on has a chance of being the shiny version!

Event Bonuses
The 2023 Festival of Lights event will have three in-game bonuses for all Pokemon GO players to enjoy:
- 2x Stardust for hatching Pokemon
- 2x Candy for hatching Pokemon
- Incense activated during the event will last twice as long
- This does not include Daily Adventure Incense
All of these bonuses are especially helpful as there is a new 7km Egg, and a load of exciting Pokemon will be attracted to Incense more frequently during the Festival of Lights!

The 2023 Festival of Lights event in Pokemon GO is adding the following new Research to the game:
- Festival of Lights Timed Research
- The rewards for this include an event-themed avatar shirt and encounters with event-themed Pokemon
- Festival of Lights Field Research Tasks
- The rewards for these Tasks include encounters with Darumaka, Morelull, and Tadbulb
