Shiny Legendaries are the most sought-after Pokemon in Pokemon GO, but the Legendary shiny rate when battling in Remote Raids seems to have gotten lower!

Every Pokemon in Pokemon GO has a shiny rate. This is the probability of it being shiny, displayed with a percentage or odds.

The standard shiny rate for Legendary Pokemon is 5%, or 1 in 20. Despite this, players reported that the shiny rate for Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie was over 3x less in June 2023!

Data collected by the Japanese Pokemon GO website 9db show that, since June 1, 2023, the shiny rate for Azelf has been roughly 1 in 64, and the shiny rate for Mesprit has been around 1 in 128. This is based on thousands of players reporting their Raid catches.

Have the Legendary Shiny Odds in Remote Raids Been Reduced?

On June 7, 2023, Niantic confirmed that the shiny rate for Legendary Pokemon has not been reduced permanently. The lower shiny rate was a “technical issue” that has now been resolved.

Additionally, impacted trainers will get all of their Remote Raid Passes back, plus an extra Pass as an apology.

There will also be a special Raid event soon where, hopefully, players will have the opportunity to catch shiny Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie.

The reduced Legendary shiny rate being a mistake is a relief to Pokemon GO fans. Many were worried that this was another move from Niantic to nerf Remote Raids.

Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming Pokemon GO Raid event so you can catch the shiny versions of the Lake Trio!
