Pokemon GO Elite Raids Guide – Bosses, Dates & More

Here’s everything you need to know about Elite Raids in Pokemon GO, including the different Pokemon that can appear as bosses!

If you’re looking for a challenge in Pokemon GO, then Elite Raids are the thing for you. They are the hardest battles the game has to offer, so you need to be prepared to take them on.

But before you find out more about Elite Raids, make sure to find out everything you need about Raids in Pokemon GO. You’ll need to know the basics to understand the differences between normal and Elite Raids.

What Are Elite Raids in Pokemon GO?

Elite Raids are the most difficult Raid Battles in Pokemon GO. They feature an extremely powerful boss Pokemon which comes from a glowing red Egg.

Once, the Egg has hatched after 24 hours, players have just 30 minutes to beat the Elite Raid boss. It is also worth noting you can only take part in Elite Raids in person.

As you have to be at the Gym to battle in Elite Raids, this means you cannot use Remote Raid Passes to do it.

How Many Players Do You Need to Win Elite Raids?

It is possible to win Elite Raids with 5 Pokemon trainers who have powerful counters, however, you will ideally have 6, 7, or more trainers taking part in the battle.

Of course, the more Pokemon Trainers you have in the Raid, the easier it should be!

Remember that can’t do these Raids Remotely though, so every player taking part needs to be at the Pokemon Gym.

Elite Raids are also the perfect time to Mega Evolve your Pokemon. This is because they are the most difficult battles in the game at the moment.

How to Battle in Elite Raids

To battle in Elite Raids, you will need to find a Pokemon GO Gym with a red glowing Egg above it and take a note of when the countdown ends.

When the 24-hour countdown ends, the Elite Raid begins. Players have just 30 minutes to battle the boss with other players in-person – Remote Raid Passes cannot be used.

When is the Next Elite Raid in Pokemon GO?

The next Elite Raids in Pokemon GO will likely be in December 2022.

Niantic has not yet announced the date or featured Pokemon for the next Pokemon GO Elite Raid but, judging by the past schedule, we will assume that it will arrive in mid-December.

We will update this section with the next Elite Raid date when Niantic announces it

Are There Legendary Spawns After Elite Raids?

Yes – Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno spawned near Gyms where an Elite Hoopa Unbound Raid had just been won.

At the moment, it is not known whether this was a one-off occurrence as it was the first-ever Elite Raid day or if this will happen every time.

Additionally, spawns of common Pokemon seem to be boosted in the vicinity of the Gym after an Elite Raid. Once again, this may have been a one-off occurrence, but this seems more likely to be a bonus that will stay.
