In Pokemon GO, players can obtain and hatch Eggs to get a random Pokemon.

There are a number of different types of Eggs that players can get in Pokemon GO. Each Egg has a distinct appearance, a certain walking requirement to hatch, and different Pokemon that could be hatched from it.

How to Hatch Eggs

To hatch Eggs in Pokemon GO you must put them in an Incubator and walk a certain distance, depending on the Egg.

  • Go to the Egg menu. To do this:
    • Press on your Pokemon trainer’s face in the bottom left of your screen
    • Scroll down on the ‘Me’ page
    • Press the green ‘Eggs’ button
  • Select any Egg you want to hatch
  • Press the ‘Incubate’ button
  • Select an Incubator you want to use to incubate the Egg
  • Walk until your Egg hatches

There are 5 different types of Egg in Pokemon GO:

  • 2km Eggs
  • 5km Eggs
  • 7km Eggs
  • 10km Eggs
  • 12km Eggs

When placed in an Incubator, each of these Eggs requires you to walk a certain distance to hatch it. They also contain different Pokemon and can be obtained in varying ways.

2km Eggs

2km Eggs have green spots and contain common Pokemon. You must have 2km to hatch this Egg.

You can get 2km Eggs as a drop from spinning a PokeStop or Gym. They are the most common Egg to find in this way.

5km Eggs

5km Eggs have orange spots and contain uncommon Pokemon. Walking 5km will hatch this Egg.

How to Get 5km Eggs in Pokemon GO

There is a chance of getting a 5km Egg when spinning a PokeStop or Gym. Additionally, you can get a 5km Adventure Sync Egg (that contains different Pokemon) for walking 25km in a week with the Adventure Sync setting turned on.

7km Eggs

Pokemon trainers can get a 10km Egg as a rare drop from spinning PokeStops or Gyms. Also, you can get a 10km Adventure Sync Egg (that contains different Pokemon) from walking 50km in a week with the Adventure Sync setting switched on.

12km Strange Eggs

Strange Eggs in Pokemon GO have red spots and require you to walk 12km to hatch. You can get a number of very rare Pokemon from them.
