Every month, Pokemon GO holds a Community Day event that features one of the many hundreds of Pokemon in the game. This month, it is Chespin’s turn as the featured ‘Mon!
It’s not just catching Chespin that players can look forward to, though!
When is Chespin Community Day in Pokemon GO? Date & Time
Pokemon GO Chespin Community Day is from 2 PM to 5 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
For the duration of this event, Chespin will be spawning much more often. Plus, there will be a number of event bonuses, a limited-time Tier 4 Raid, and more!
To make the most of this Community Day, here’s how to boost the Candy you earn in Pokemon GO!
January 2023 Community Day Bonuses
All of the following bonuses will be active for every Pokemon GO player during the Chespin Community Day:
- 2x Candy for catching Pokemon
- 2x chance to receive XL Candy for catching Pokemon (Level 31 trainers and above)
- 1/4 Egg Hatch distance for Eggs placed in an Incubator during the event
- Three-hour Lure Module duration when activated during the event
- Three-hour Incense duration when activated during the event
- Surprise Snapshot encounters
- One additional Special Trade (up to maximum two)
- Trades will require 1/2 Stardust
4-Star Raid on Chespin Community Day
Chespin’s evolution, Quilladin will be appearing in 4-Star Raids from 5 PM to 7 PM on January 7, 2023. This is in the three hours following the end of Chespin Community Day.
Like usual Tier 4 Community Day Raids, players will not be able to use Remote Raid Passes to take part in these Raids.

What’s more, Chespin will spawn in the vicinity of any Gym where a Quilladin Raid is won for 30 minutes afterward. This will give players a final chance to earn Chespin Candy before the day is over!
Exclusive Chesnaught Attack – Frenzy Plant
Pokemon GO players who evolve Quilladin into Chesnaught at any point from 2 PM to 10 PM will get the exclusive Chesnaught attack Frenzy Plant.
This is a Grass-type charged attack that has 100 Power in Gyms and Raids as well as in battles against other trainers.
If you don’t manage to get a Chesnaught with this exclusive attack during the Chespin Community Day, the only way to get it is by using an Elite Charged TM.
Quality Quills Special Research Story Ticket
For $1 (or local currency equivalent), Pokemon trainers can purchase the Quality Quills Ticket to get an exclusive Special Research Story on the Chespin Community Day.
This Research needs to be completed during Chespin Community Day and will reward players with Chespin Candy and encounters with the Chespin family!
Players can also gift this ticket to in-game friends by selecting the Gift option instead of Buy.
Is There a Shiny Chespin in Pokemon GO?
Yes, there is a shiny version of Chespin in Pokemon GO as of the January 7 Chespin Community Day. This is the first time shiny Chespin has even been available in Pokemon GO.
Shiny Chespin has a brown head and darker brown arms, instead of the green and light brown of the standard Chespin.
