Pokemon GO: Charizard Raid Guide – Best Counters, Weakness

Find out how to defeat and catch Charizard in raids! The best counters, weaknesses, and everything else you need to know!

The Air Adventures Event is underway in Pokemon GO! Trainers have been taking on timed research, catching rare ‘Mon, and taking part in raid battles!

One popular new addition to the raid pool is the fan-favorite Charizard. Charizard isn’t just one of the most popular Pokemon of all time, it’s also an incredibly strong one, too!

To catch Charizard, trainers will need to first defeat it in a raid battle. This means you have to battle an incredibly strong Pokemon with other trainers.

Once the Pokemon is defeated, its CP will drop to a lower level, and trainers will have the opportunity to catch it. We recommend stocking up on Razz Berries and Golden Razz Berries, as Charizard is a difficult Pokemon to catch!

If you’re in need of Golden Razz Berries, try this Free Daily Box Trick to get some rare items!

Of course, in order to catch Charizard, you need to be able to defeat it. Here’s our expert guide to defeating it in a raid!

And if you’re deciding which is better, Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y, check out our guide!

Best Charizard Raid Counters

Charizard is a 3-star raid Pokemon. That means that even though it’s possible to defeat one on your own, it’s worth bringing along at least one friend to make things easier.

Regardless of how many people are raiding, you need to make sure you bring all the best counters. If you can exploit Charizard’s weaknesses, then you’ll be on your way to victory.

While Charizard is a difficult raid boss, we have everything you need to know in order to win the raid. Read on to find out the best Charizard raid counters, weaknesses, and more!

Charizard Stats and Type

Charizard is standing in a murky cave, lit mostly by its tail fire. It looks quite angry, and is clenching its claws.

Charizard is a powerful Pokemon with balanced stats across the board. It has the following stats in Pokemon GO:

  • Max CP: 3266
  • Attack: 223
  • Defense: 173
  • Stamina: 186

Additionally, it is a Fire/Flying-type. This means Charizard resists attacks from the following types:

  • Bug
  • Fairy
  • Fighting
  • Fire
  • Grass
  • Ground
  • Steel

This means you shouldn’t go into battle using attacks of these types. Furthermore, Charizard has a double resistance to Ground, meaning Ground-type attacks like Earthquake will do very little damage.

However, all Pokemon also have weaknesses. Here are the types that can deal super-effective damage to Charizard!

  • Electric
  • Rock
  • Water

Also, Charizard has a double weakness to Rock-type moves. This means using Rock-type attacks like Stone Edge is a great idea!

Maybe the upcoming Alolan Geodude Community Day will make taking down a Charizard raid even easier!

Charizard Attacks and Moves

In a Charizard Raid, you need to choose Pokemon that can withstand its powerful attacks. Here are the fast and charged moves that Charizard uses in raid battles!

Charizard Fast Moves

  • Air Slash (Flying)
  • Fire Spin (Fire)

Charizard Charged Moves

  • Dragon Claw (Dragon)
  • Fire Blast (Fire)
  • Overheat (Fire)

This means that Charizard can hit the following types for super-effective damage:

  • Bug
  • Dragon
  • Fighting
  • Grass
  • Ice
  • Steel

Because of this, you need to pick your Pokemon carefully to ensure Charizard cannot defeat them. Thankfully, we’ve picked out the best Charizard raid counters to choose!

Best Pokemon To Defeat Charizard Raid

Charizard is standing in a murky cave, lit mostly by its tail fire. It looks quite angry, and is clenching its claws.

Charizard is a difficult Pokemon to face because of its high attack and powerful Fire-type moves. Because of this, the best Pokemon to bring to a Charizard Raid are strong Rock-type Pokemon,

Not only can Rock-type Pokemon exploit Charizard’s double weakness, but most of them cannot be hit super effectively in return.

If you’ve got a strong Aerodactyl from your Flying Cup battle team, why not bring it along to a Charizard raid?
