Yes, you can catch the shiny version of Oddish in Pokemon GO, but it is very rare!
There is a very small chance that any Oddish you encounter in Pokemon GO will be the shiny version. This is the case no matter how you encounter it, whether that is in the wild or from a Research reward.
The best time to catch a shiny Oddish is during the Pokemon GO Oddish Research Day event. This is because you can earn loads of Oddish encounters from completing Field Research Tasks, and the shiny rate is boosted!
Oddish Shiny Rate in Pokemon GO
The odds of Oddish being shiny in Pokemon GO are 0.2%, or 1 in 500. This means that, on average, you’ll need to encounter around 500 Oddish before you spot the shiny version.
Fortunately, Oddish has boosted shiny odds during the Oddish Research Day event on September 17, 2023. While Niantic has not confirmed what they are boosted to, it will be an increase to either 1 in 128, or 1 in 64!
What Color is Shiny Oddish?
The shiny version of Oddish has a green body and lime green leaves on the top of its head.
This makes it appear very different to the standard version, which is blue with green leaves.
