Earlier today Niantic were teasing mysterious red eggs on Twitter as part of Pokémon Go’s upcoming Autumn event.
Nintendo have now revealed everything there is to know about the upcoming Pokémon Go season. It involves saving mysterious red eggs from the nefarious Team Rocket.
To those who may not be aware, Pokémon trainers have been thwarting Team Rocket’s nasty plots for over 20 years. They may be the most ineffective group of villains in all of fiction, but at least they’re a team!
Pokémon Go has its branch of Team Rocket, named Team GO Rocket. Nintendo have confirmed they will be more active than usual during the Autumn event.
The villains will be taking over Pokéstops and will need removing, and in doing so players will take the red eggs from them.
Pokémon Go Event Details
The eggs will officially be called ‘Strange Eggs’, and they will work a little differently from regular Pokemon Go eggs. These will be hatching in unpredictable ways due to the seasonal “temperature change” according to Nintendo.
The Strange Eggs will predominantly feature Poison and Dark-type Pokémon. Which players are encouraged to find before Team GO Rocket do. Larvitar, Scraggy, Trubbish, and Vullaby have been confirmed so far.
This Pokémon types will also appear more in the wild throughout the event. The Pokémon Spinarak, Houndour, Poochyena, Gulpin, Stunky, Purrloin will also appear more frequently.
Players will also need to defeat a Team GO Rocket Leader in order to acquire a Strange Egg, then walk 12 km to hatch it. Strange Eggs will also continue to be featured in Pokémon Go even after the event ends.
The speed in which Strange Eggs hatch can be accelerated by using an incubator. They will also hatch much quicker when placed inside the incubators.
Other Pokémon Go Autumn Event Details
Players that gather enough research during the event will be given the opportunity to face series big bad and Team Rocket leader Giovanni. Fans of the original Red and Blue Pokémon games will remember that he was the final gym leader – and the games main antagonist.
Beating him will also give the player a chance to catch a Shadow Mewtwo! Regular Team Rocket grunts will use the following Shadow Pokémon: Diglett, Shellder, Slowpoke, Aerodactyl, Skarmory, Growlithe, Drowzee, and Shadow Omanyte,
Team GO Rocket balloons will appear more frequently throughout the event. Also, Niantic have encouraged players to also take snapshots if they would like to be surprised.
The Pokémon Go shop is also set to be updated with various items unique to the event, such as Team Rocket gear for your character. Should you feel the need to embrace your inner rubbish villain!
Pokémon Go's Autumn event will begin on Monday, October 12, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Monday, October 19, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7). We also expect more details to be released by Nintendo and Niantic over the coming days.
