Everything We Know About Pokemon GO’s All-Hands Rocket Retreat Event

The All-Hands Rocket Retreat event is the latest in a tradition of Pokemon GO events themed around Team GO Rocket. Previous events have brought the return of Giovanni, the chance to catch a shadow legendary Pokemon, and much more!

The Team GO Rocket events usually bring with them some special research, and this event is no exception. Trainers can expect a brand-new special research storyline called Silent Schemes.

Silent Schemes Special Research

The Silent Schemes special research will be available from 10 AM local time on April 3. To access the storyline, you must play Pokemon GO while the event is active between 10 AM April 3 and 8 PM local time April 7.

The research will be in six stages, where trainers will have to complete research activities. These will include battling Team GO Rocket grunts, purifying shadow Pokemon, and battling Team GO Rocket leaders, among other surprises.

We don’t know for sure what rewards are available yet, but we do know that you will be able to obtain a Super Rocket Radar. As a result, you will be able to battle the Team GO Rocket boss, Giovanni.

UPDATE: Niantic has now revealed all details about the All-Hands Rocket Retreat – check it out here!

New Shadow Legendary Pokemon

Most Team GO Rocket-themed events in Pokemon GO feature the opportunity to battle Giovanni. The leader of Team GO Rocket is a powerful opponent who usually battles with a shadow legendary Pokemon. As a result, he is a difficult challenge for trainers!

The leader of Team GO Rocket, Giovanni, stands menacingly in a purple cloud. Below him are the outlines of three powerful shadow Pokemon: Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos.

While Giovanni’s team of Pokemon changes with each event, it seems likely that he will battle with his signature normal-type Pokemon, Persian. He also uses a powerful shadow legendary Pokemon.

In last year’s Festival Of Lights event, Giovanni battled with a powerful shadow Lugia. This year, dataminers have discovered that Shadow Latias has been added to the game. This strongly suggests that Giovanni will be using Shadow Latias as part of his team.

Shadow Latias Moveset

Trainers who defeat Giovanni will be able to capture Shadow Latias. This powerful Dragon-Psychic type is an excellent option in battles.

With well-rounded stats and a great moveset, you don’t want to miss out on adding Shadow Latias to your team!

Shadow Latias can learn a wide range of moves, giving it lots of different options in battle. Here are the moves it can learn!

Shadow Latias Fast Moves

  • Dragon Breath
  • Zen Headbutt
  • Charm

Shadow Latias Charge Moves

  • Psychic
  • Thunder
  • Outrage

Additionally, trainers who purify Shadow Latias will be able to learn the exclusive charge move Return. This is a powerful normal-type move that gives Shadow Latias even more options in battle. For instance, Shadow Latias is a great choice in the Ultra League.

New Shadow Pokemon In Grunt Battles

In Pokemon GO, trainers can obtain powerful shadow Pokemon by battling Team GO Rocket grunts. This gives you the opportunity to rescue a shadow Pokemon and purify it.

In a recent update, data for new shadow Pokemon has been added to the game. This suggests that the All-Hands Rocket Retreat event will introduce these new shadow Pokemon.

These are the new shadow Pokemon that could be introduced with the All-Hands Rocket Retreat event:

  • Sudowoodo
  • Numel
  • Camerupt
  • Shinx
  • Luxio
  • Luxray

Remove Frustration From Shadow Pokemon

All shadow Pokemon in Pokemon GO know the charge move Frustration. While Pokemon can usually learn new moves by using a TM, Frustration cannot usually be removed.

However, there have been previous events which allow Frustration to be removed by using a Charged TM. It seems possible that the All-Hands Rocket Retreat event will let you remove Frustration with a Charged TM too.

This is a great opportunity for trainers to remove Frustration from their shadow Pokemon without having to purify them!

April is already an exciting month for Pokemon GO. The All-Hands Rocket Retreat event is set to be a brilliant experience. If you’re an experienced battler or an avid collector, this event is for you!

Speaking of battling, be sure you’re using the best Pokemon GO team in April 2022!
