Point-blank kills in MW2 are when you kill an enemy who is less than five meters away from you. The distance for point-blank kills remains the same, no matter the weapon type you use.
The easiest way to achieve these kills is by playing in small confined areas of maps and avoiding open spaces.
There are also some other ways you can increase the speed that you get this kill type, such as:
- Playing on close-quarter maps
- Using Flash Grenades
- Hip-firing your weapon
- Using the right perks
- Playing objective-based game modes
Even though you can get point blanks on Warzone 2, we recommend getting them in MW2 Multiplayer as most fights in the Battle Royale game will be medium to long range.
Although, if you do not have MW2 purchased, we suggest heading into the brand new small-sized Warzone 2 map. This map is releasing with the launch of Season 2.

Playing on Close-Quarter Maps
Close-quarter maps are one of the best ways to get point-blank kills fast. This is because these maps will have shorter-ranged fights giving you more opportunities to get these types of kills.
The best close-quarters maps on MW2 are:
- Shipment
- Farm 18
- Shoothouse
At the moment, there is a “Shoot The Ship” currently in the game, so we suggest loading into that to complete these challenges!

Using The Right Perks
There are a couple of perks in MW2 and Warzone 2 that can help you get point blanks more consistently. These perks will help you sneak and get up closer to enemies.
- Double Time: Will increase your movement speed, allowing you to get close to enemies faster.
- Ghost: Will hide you from enemy UAVs, letting you go under the radar as you sneak up on them.
- Cold-Blooded: Hides you from enemy optics.
Using Flash Grenades
Combining flash grenades can be extremely helpful in getting point-blank kills.
Simply flash bang the enemy before running up close to them to get that point-blank kill. This makes it easier as the enemy will not be able to see you running toward them.
This will also help you with the solution to point-blank kills not counting in MW2.
Hip-firing Your Weapon
Seeing as you will need to be up close and personal with the enemies, there is not much pointing aiming down sights.
Hip-firing will allow you much quicker movement as you avoid being killed. Make sure you attach a laser that will increase your hip-fire accuracy.
Playing Objective-Based Game Modes
Playing modes where there is an objective is another excellent way to get point-blank kills. This is because it will force players to head to specific locations on the map.
In these modes, you can hold tight angles and choke points on the map. The best objective modes to play for point blanks are:
- Domination
- Hardpoint
- Headquarters

How to Fix Point Blank Kills Not Counting In MW2 & Warzone 2
Unfortunately, it seems as if some point-blank kills are not counting for players even though they get the notification on their screen.
The way to fix this is by touching the enemy before you get the point-blank kill. While this may make it harder to complete this challenge, this is a sure way to fix the issue.
And once you have completed the point-blank kill challenges, make sure to check out these tips for getting longshot kills.
