PlayStation Confirms That You’ll Soon Be Able To Change Your PSN ID

The moment that all PlayStation Network users have been waiting for has finally arrived! PlayStation users will soon be able to change their PSN IDs. Although this seems like no big deal, for some it means the world! There are many players who have embarrassing PSN IDs. Now, they are going to be able to change that. Will you change your PSN ID?

How To Change Your PSN ID

Since this long awaited feature won’t be making its debut until 2019, why announce it now? Well, people who have previously registered for beta tests will be chosen to participate. Like the rival Xbox users, the first name change is free. Name changes after will be $9.99, or $4.99 if you’re a PlayStation Plus member. In a PlayStation blog, PlayStation made it known that you will be able to change your name as many times as you want during the preview program.

When you change your PSN ID, you will have the option to display your old PSN ID with your new one. Whether you decide to display your previous ID or not, once you submit the change you will not be able to adjust that option. Once this feature goes live, do not be surprised if not all games display your new PSN ID.

“This feature is compatible with PS4 games originally published after April 1, 2018, and a large majority of the most-played PS4 games that were released before this date. However, please note not all games and applications for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems are guaranteed to support the online ID change, and users may occasionally encounter issues or errors in certain games.”

However, if you encounter these issues you are able to revert to your original ID for free at any time. You can only revert once during the preview program. When the feature fully launches PlayStation will be releasing a list of compatible games.

Let us know if you will be utilizing the new feature to change your PSN ID!
