Bluepoint Games Is Now Part of PlayStation Studios

After a long and anticipated wait, Bluepoint Studios is now confirmed to be part of the PlayStation Studios family.

Before the PS5 was released, Sony unified all its studios under a single flag. It chose the PlayStation Studios branding for this.

Not only did Sony unify its brand, but it also planned expansion.

A few months ago, Sony acquired Returnal’s developer Housemarque.

Since then, Sony accidentally leaked its acquisition of Bluepoint Games. Finally, the Japanese company pronounced on this matter officially.

BluePoint Games joins PlayStation Studios

After the leak situation transpired, Sony remained silent for some time.

Today, Sony confirmed through their PlayStation Blog that Bluepoint Games is officially part of the PlayStation Studios family.

Bluepoint has brought back to life critically acclaimed PlayStation classics such as Shadow of the Colossus.

Furthermore, the studio launched its remake of the PS3-era classic Demon’s Souls as part of PS5’s launch line-up.

After such massive cooperation, fans expected this acquisition eagerly.

Bluepoint Games is working on an original project

Marco Trush, President of Bluepoint Games, expressed the following in regard to the acquisition:

“We can’t wait to bring you more amazing games in this next chapter for Bluepoint Games!”

In addition, Marco also confirmed through an interview with IGN that Bluepoint’s next game will be an original title and not a remake.

“Our next project, we’re working on original content right now. We can’t talk about what that is, but that’s the next step in the evolution for us,”

Marco Trush, President of Bluepoint Games

Even though Bluepoint Games is working on original content, it is unlikely that this title will arrive anytime soon.

The studio recently launched Demon’s Souls on PS5. So the wait for their next project might be a few years from now.

Other PlayStation Studios Acquisitions

PlayStation Studios has been expanding quickly. Back in July, Sony acquired Nixxes Software.

Returnal’s developer Housemarque also joined the PS Studios family a few months ago. Now, Bluepoint Games is officially part of the PlayStation Studios roster.

It seems like a great time to jump into the PS5 if you can get one of course.

If you are having a hard time getting your PS5 console, maybe you should try GameStop’s in-store PS5 restock.

Else, you can always keep an eye out for online restocks. Target is expected to get an online restock this week, so you can try your luck there!
