PlayStation Responds – Will The Call of Duty Series Stay On PS4 & PS5?

Sony has finally responded to the big news and answered the question every PlayStation fan is asking – will the Call of Duty series stay on PS4 and PS5?

Call of Duty is one of the biggest properties in all of gaming, however, the future of the series on PlayStation is now up in the air.

Following Microsoft’s $70 billion purchase of Activision, players began to worry about the future of Call of Duty on PlayStation. However, there was no immediate response from Sony to reassure PS4 and PS5 owners that Call of Duty would stay on its consoles.

Luckily though, Sony has now issued a response on the future of Call of Duty on PS4 and PS5.

Will Call of Duty Be Xbox Exclusive or Release on PlayStation Too?

Now fans know what to expect from Call of Duty after the Microsoft acquisition, only one major question remains. Of course, this is whether future COD titles will release on PS4 and PS5.

There has been plenty of speculation from gamers around the world with some thinking it will go exclusive and others keeping hope that the franchise will stay on PlayStation. However, the only answer that matters is the one that comes from Sony itself.

The company has now responded to the possible Xbox exclusivity in a new statement.

The Wall Street Journal reported this statement about Call of Duty on PlayStation from a Sony spokesperson on January 20:

“We expect that Microsoft will abide by contractual agreements and continue to ensure Activision games are multiplatform.”

While this seems promising and almost certainly confirms that the next couple of Call of Duty titles will be on PlayStation, this still sparks some long-term concerns.

This is because we don’t know any details about the “contractual agreements” between Sony and Activision. If these agreements only last a couple of years then there is nothing stopping Call of Duty from being Xbox exclusive in a few years’ time.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty fans are desperate for a ‘Warzone 2.0’. They will definitely be hoping that Microsoft can make this a reality on both Xbox and PlayStation.
