PlayStation Boss Provides Update on PS5 Stock Levels

PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan is revealing more about the PS5 stock levels, and when we can expect more consoles to be available.

It’s no secret that the PS5 is notoriously difficult to come by. Ever since pre-orders went live ahead of the November 12 release date, consoles have been in short supply.

But this won’t be the case for too much longer, according to PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan. Recently, the President of Sony Interactive Entertainment sat down with GQ for an interview that’s revealing huge new details about the company’s future.

Not only has Jim Ryan confirmed that the PlayStation VR 2 is on the way, he also delves into details about upcoming PS5 stock.

PS5 Stock Levels To Improve “Quickly”

In the interview, Jim Ryan explains what’s holding back production of the PS5, and how stock levels will soon improve.

It should come as no surprise to many that the PlayStation 5 stock issues are due, in part, to the ongoing pandemic. In the past, we’ve heard that PS5 consoles require a semiconductor chip that’s in short supply across America.

Ryan states that Sony is now using an entirely online distribution model, which is something the company has never had to do before. What’s more, the demand for the PlayStation is off the charts, as fans crave entertainment as we reach a year in a global crisis.

Now, post-Christmas, the Sony Boss claims that the team is working “with renewed vigour and energy” to get supply up.

“The situation will start to get better hopefully quite quickly,” Jim Ryan confirms. “We have been relentless in terms of trying to increase production and I really can’t say any more than that.”

Despite Ryan’s claims that he can’t reveal more, the PlayStation leader does state that the company has just sent a considerable amount of consoles to the UK market.

A lot more PS5 consoles did go live at GAME this morning, and we had 6,000 units at this UK retailer shortly before that.

But it’s not just the UK that’s getting more PS5 consoles. In fact, it looks like Target is getting ready for another PS5 drop very soon.

Try and keep scalpers from getting them. Also, it's interesting you had trouble with microchips... dad was having trouble getting microchips in the auto plant so they've been really slow.
