For the first time in years, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is launching with not one but two Zombies maps – but should you experience Terminus Island or Liberty Falls first?
Black Ops 6 is finally here, and it’s giving Zombies fans two launch maps to try out right from day one.
The first map that was revealed is Terminus, which is set on a mysterious island where members of Requiem are being held captive.
The second, Liberty Falls, is set in a small town in West Virginia, home to the mysterious Project Janus. But which should new players play first?
Does It Matter Which Map You Play First?
No, as far as we can tell, there is no issue with choosing to play Terminus or Liberty Falls first in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
Of course, Terminus Island is proposed as the ‘first’ Zombies map in Black Ops 6, which means it’ll likely be a lot of players’ first choice.
However, it’s worth noting that the events of Terminus and Liberty Falls actually take place simultaneously, meaning that you likely won’t spoil one by playing the other.
This is even clear when playing the two Black Ops 6 Zombies map cinematics side-by-side! There may well be some overlap between both maps, but it shouldn’t matter which you choose to playthrough first.
Therefore, we’ve put together a brief synopsis of what you can expect from each map, to help you decide:
Terminus
The Terminus map acts as a direct follow-up to the post-credits scene of Black Ops Cold War Zombies.
At the conclusion of Cold War’s final Zombies map, Forsaken, the Director of Requiem is revealed to be none other than Eddie Richtofen, who imprisons the members of his team and takes control of the captured Forsaken.
In the game’s post-credits, we see William Peck chartering a ship in order to break the Requiem members out of prison. Then, in the map’s intro cinematic, the prison break finally takes place, and the Requiem crew sets out to save new character Maya Aguinaldo’s brother, who is being held somewhere on the island.
Terminus looks like a return to classic round-based Zombies gameplay, which has fans excited about the map. If you’re a fan of old-school Zombies, this is a great first pick.
And it even has a brand-new Wonder Weapon, The Beamsmasher, to try out!
Liberty Falls
Liberty Falls, on the other hand, acts as a follow-up to the main quest of Forsaken, which saw Samantha Maxis make a tremendous sacrifice to seal away the Forsaken.
Now trapped inside the Forsaken prison, Samantha Maxis appears to be back and causing chaos, causing Eddie Richtofen to disappear during the map’s intro cinematic.
This map also follows on from the final cutscene of MW3 Zombies, which indicates that Dr Ava Jansen, the biological daughter of Samantha Maxis and Sergei Ravenov, has been transported back to the past.
While Liberty Falls is still a ’round-based’ Zombies map, it certainly appears more open-world than Terminus. If you’re a fan of Cold War Zombies’ Outbreak mode, or MW3 Zombies as a whole, this may be your favorite.
Liberty Falls doesn’t have a new Wonder Weapon, but it’s bringing back two classics in the Wunderwaffe DG-2 and the Jet Gun, so don’t miss out!
