Phil Spencer Reveals Why Halo Infinite Doesn’t Have a Release Date Yet

Halo Infinite is one of the biggest releases of 2021, but it’s yet to receive its official release date. Now, Xbox Head Phil Spencer is revealing why this is the case.

If, like millions of fans across the globe, you’re eagerly awaiting Halo Infinite dropping later this year, you might be curious to see that the game doesn’t have an official release date yet. It was certainly a little disappointing not to get that information at E3 2021, but it turns out there’s good reason for it.

Not only do we not know the upcoming date but Xbox isn’t certain about it either. Although we just saw an incredible trailer for Halo Infinite’s Free-to-Play Multiplayer which is looking great, the game isn’t quite ready just yet.

Why Doesn’t Halo Infinite Have a Release Date?

In a new interview on the Dropped Frames podcast, Phil Spencer reveals why Halo Infinite doesn’t have a release date yet.

Phil Spencer is never one to shy away from an interview, and he recently made an appearance on itmeJP’s Dropped Frames podcast. Talking to JP, as well as Ezekiel_III and CohhCarnage, Spencer responded to a query about the lack of release date.

“We know kind of our range in the 3-4 week range. We don’t have yet the exact day,” Spencer begins. “There’s some other things with some other game timing that we’re trying to look at. We’ll have better clarity over the Summer but this isn’t a months thing, this is just down to a few weeks.”

It looks as though Xbox is trying to find the best place to drop Halo Infinite for maximum impact right now. And with another huge Xbox release dropping later this year, we can’t blame them for trying to find a sweet spot.

It’s also important to note that Battlefield 2042’s release date will also be putting pressure on Xbox. Although it looks as though Battlefield 2042 is coming to Xbox Game Pass, the company likely doesn’t want to drop their title near EA’s massive upcoming shooter.

Phil Spencer on Halo Infinite’s Release Date

Phil Spencer also reveals that Xbox wants Halo Infinite’s release date set in stone this time, with no more delays. Therefore, it’s vital that the company makes the right choice when it comes to dropping on a specific day.

However, the Xbox Head does reveal that he feels confident in a Holiday 2021 release date and that the game is well on track for a smooth launch.
