Xbox Boss Phil Spencer comments on the lack of Xbox Series X and S devices on the market at the moment and gives fans an update on the upcoming restocks.
Ever since launch day, Xbox Series X and Series S consoles have been extremely hard to come by. With next-gen hardware selling out in record time, Xbox fans are finding it difficult to secure their new gaming device.
Now, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has a new update for fans still waiting on their console. However, it won't necessarily be good news for all gamers.
Microsoft's Xbox Series X Restock Update
In a recent discussion on the Major Nelson podcast, Spencer talked to Larry Hryb about just how fast the company has been producing the Xbox Series X/S. According to the Xbox Boss, things are going about as fast as they can:
"It really is just down to physics and engineering. We're not holding them back," Spencer states. "We're building them as fast as we can. We have all the assembly lines going."
The Head of Xbox confirms that he's working as hard as he can to ensure that there's more stock for consumers to buy. However, the company is limited by the speed of their partners too.
For example, AMD, developer of the Xbox's GPU and CPU, also needs to produce parts fast enough to put in the upcoming stock.
"I was on the phone last week with Lisa Su at AMD," Spencer continues. "How do we get more? How do we get more? So it's something that we're constantly working on, but it's not just us. I think gaming has really come into its own in 2020."
But while many gamers have already secured their new console, others aren't so lucky. Thankfully, with the UK government set to tackle Xbox Series X scalpers, it's about to get easier to find your device.
So far, the difficulty in finding an Xbox has been largely due to resellers buying up the devices in bulk. These malicious consumers use Xbox Series X scalping bots to snatch up the units the moment they become available.
But if you don't find your Xbox in early 2021, you're sure to be missing out. These new games are coming to Xbox Game Pass in January this year, and you won't want to miss them.
What's more, there's a new rumor that Ubisoft Plus will be joining the Xbox Games Pass roster.
