Overwatch 2 Battle Pass System Explained

Blizzard is taking the seasonal content and Battle Pass approach for Overwatch 2!

Overwatch 2 had a reveal event today, and the overall fan reaction was positive. The game is now officially launching as a free-to-play title.

Of course, this announcement was well-received to some extent. The problem with free-to-play titles is that, more often than none, microtransactions are in place.

Monetization in this sort of title is a mixed bag. Often, games become pay-to-win titles if this system is not implemented in a user-friendly manner.

Even prominent high-profile titles like Diablo Immortal suffered from problematic microtransactions. Fortunately for its fans, Overwatch 2 is taking a different approach, betting for a season and battle pass system.

Is the Overwatch 2 Season Pass Free?

Like other live service games, Overwatch 2 offers a free Battle Pass and Premium Battle Pass tier for its players. Currently, there is no information on how many tiers each option would have.

However, the Premium version of the Battle would certainly offer skin, charms, and other cosmetics of a higher rarity.

Blizzard did not mention pricing details, so this information is sure to come in the following days before the game launches.

Instead of pricing, the developer preferred to focus on other information, such as giving more details about the new Push game mode.

In addition to the Battle Pass system, Blizzard announced Overwatch 2 is getting weekly challenges as part of its seasons. Also, the game would now feature an in-game store dedicated to various cosmetics.

This system is pretty much what other big games like Warzone and Fortnite. It is indeed a much more user-friendly approach when compared to loot boxes.

Nonetheless, how well fans receive it will be determined by its value in relation to its pricing.

Lastly, many of the game’s heroes have received considerable reworks! Here are some useful tips for mastering these heroes:
