The latest Nintendo Switch Pro leak suggests the console will be coming sooner than we thought. But how likely is this?
Another day, another Nintendo Switch Pro Leak, although we’re taking this one with a much bigger pinch of salt than usual. Not because of where it’s come from, but because of what it proposes.
The new leak, although not without some merit as a source, contradicts all the others. Many of these have come from reliable leakers and fits in with comments Nintendo has made about the Nintendo Switch's future.
January Nintendo Direct Rumor
According to this new leak, Nintendo will be holding a Nintendo Direct show on the 11th January 2021, which will unveil the Switch Pro. It also suggests that the release day of the Switch Pro will be the 23rd of April 2021.
If true, this is incredible but we’re not so sure it is. Here’s why; a similar report back in October said that Nintendo would hold a Direct show then, but this never came to fruition. This too made bold claims about the company's future, which are still yet to be confirmed.
The 11th of January is next week - and there’s been no fanfare by Nintendo to build hype and prepare the audience. You’d have thought Nintendo would give us at least a week’s notice.
Also, Nintendo has said they are currently focused on the existing models of the Nintendo Switch “for the foreseeable future.” We believe them, although we expect they will unveil and even potentially release the Switch Pro in 2021 – just not as soon as April.
Is the New Nintendo Switch Leak Real?
In all honesty, we’ve been working under the theory that Nintendo will unveil the Switch Pro in spring or summer, then release the console refresh some time in Q4 of 2021. This is also what the analysts believe.
The new Nintendo Switch Pro leak also suggests Mario Kart 9, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Odyssey 2 and a new Metroid game will be unveiled at the Nintendo Direct show. But we’re not holding our breath.
The leak suggests that the Switch Pro will indeed support 4K in portable mode. And that Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Devil May Cry 5, and Black Ops Cold War will be making their way to the console.
Finally, it proposes that the sequel to Breath of The Wild will be titled ‘The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of the Past.’ Interestingly the leak makes no mention of Pokémon 2021, which many expect will be a remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. – Something you’d expect to be listed.
We’d suggest taking the above with a pinch of salt unless Nintendo states otherwise. Although we think these Nintendo Switch Pro Leaks (see link) carry more weight.
But who knows, they could surprise us. Although don’t mark the 11th of January on your calendar until Nintendo give us reason to.
