A new Nintendo Switch Pro leak has indicated just how powerful the rumored console could be. If the leaks turn out to be true, Nintendo fans may be surprised at just how much of a leap it really is.
Although the Nintendo Switch Pro has not been officially confirmed by Nintendo, leaks and rumors are surfacing regarding the planned console. It is looking to be a much-improved variant.
As always, with any Nintendo Switch Pro leak, it is important to remember that this may not end up being the case. However, there is a strong chance that this rumor may end up being correct, here's what we know.
Nintendo Switch Pro Leak
Nintendo is currently lagging behind competitors such as Microsoft and Sony in terms of performance. It appears that Nintendo desperately needs to demonstrate they are willing to compete with their own product.
A while ago we reported that the Nintendo Switch Pro display could utilize OLED technology. If true, this would mean that the Switch Pro would have deeper blacks and crisper image quality.
However, there's no point in upgrading the screen if your console's power performance is still lagging behind. Next-gen consoles have shown just how far performance can be pushed.
A new Nintendo Switch Pro leak may shed some light on what Nintendo has planned for the rumored console. Two industry insiders have been sharing details of how the Switch Pro may leap forwards in power.
The Nintendo Switch Pro leak comes from two verified ResetEra insiders. As always, remember to take what has been stated lightly. Although the leakers have been proven correct in the past.
Nintendo Switch Pro Power & DLSS
According to the leak, the Nintendo Switch Pro may be able to support surprising resolutions that rival both last-gen and next-gen consoles. The suggestion comes from data-mined information.
Credible Insiders, 'Z0m3le' and 'NatetheHate' have confirmed through data-mining findings that the Switch Pro has a 1440p render resolution. The current Nintendo Switch resolution is only 720p, to put it in perspective.
From the forum post, the leakers had this to say with regards to the Switch Pro's performance level:
"As for the Switch model incoming, we should just treat it like a PS4 with DLSS and a more capable CPU. That's plenty to get an idea of what it should be capable of IMO."(Source: ResetEra)
According to the Nintendo Switch Pro leak, fans should view the Switch Pro as Nintendo's PS4, albeit with more power. The console may have an upgraded CPU and DLSS (which improves frame rate, graphics, and performance).
Interestingly, this matches up with what another reliable industry insider has stated. According to one insider, the Nintendo Switch Pro rumors are true in terms of this feature.
Nintendo has never been particularly good at keeping up with hardware. Despite this, their products instead show tons of innovation. It makes sense therefore that the Switch Pro would not be as powerful as the new PS5.
Furthermore, according to the Nintendo Switch Pro leaked information, Nintendo has come up with their own solution to achieve a 4k resolution. The leakers had this to say:
Nintendo's answer for 4K was just to put 9 720p switches in a grid, boom 4K."(Source: ResetEra)
It appears that Nintendo may be experimenting with the best way to achieve their own 4K resolution quality. If proven correct, this will mean an exceptionally powerful console for Nintendo fans.
