Nintendo has issued a statement warning players that a Splatoon 3 bug could potentially ruin this weekend’s Splatfest.

Splatoon 3’s first-ever post-launch Splatfest is just around the corner. Players can already vote for which team they’d like to join before the event begins this weekend.

However, a bug surrounding Splatoon 3’s latest currency, the Conch Shell, could affect the overall results of the event.

If you’re unsure what this new currency is, we’d recommend learning about what Conch Shells are in Splatoon 3 before the bug affects you too.

The Splatoon 3 Splatfest Conch Shell Bug Explained

Nintendo has discovered a bug within Splatoon 3 that removes any Conch Shells that players have picked up prior to voting. This could have a devastating effect on the overall results of the Splatfest.

During the Splatfest event, players can collect Conch Shells by playing online matches such as Salmon Run and Turf War.

Then, at the end of the event, each team’s collective Conch Shell amount is tallied up. Whoever has the most Conch Shells wins the Splatfest.

However, you can collect Conch Shells during the Splatfest Sneak Peak, without voting. In theory, these Conch Shells should count towards your team’s score, but the bug could prevent that from ever happening.

Nintendo Suggests Fix for the Splatfest Conch Shell Bug

Nintendo’s proposed solution for this bug is to simply vote before collecting any Conch Shells, so you avoid losing the ones you have amassed.

On September 21, Nintendo issued a statement via Twitter explaining that they were aware of the bug and offered this potential fix.

For many players, this won’t be an issue. However, for those who have already collected a lot of Conch Shells, Nintendo is not currently offering a solution.

If you’re not sure what this event is, but want to take part or at least make sure all of your Conch Shells will count, then check out everything there is to know about the Splatoon 3 Splatfest.

And, if you were hoping to play with your friends and win the Splatfest together, then make sure you know how to join and play with your friends in Splatoon 3.
