Nintendo Confirms Among Us Switch Price and Release Date

Among Us, the multiplayer deduction game is officially coming to Nintendo's platform today.

Get ready for some backstabbing on the Nintendo Switch. Today, Nintendo announced that Innersloth's recently popular multiplayer game is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Not only that, but the game will support cross-play when it comes out later today. Nintendo announced the news via their latest Indie World Showcase event. Among Us will only be one of the many games coming to Switch in December.

According the store page on the Nintendo eShop, the game costs $5 / £3.89, the same price as the PC version.

Furthermore, the file size of Among Us on Nintendo Switch is only 421MB, so storage shouldn't be a concern.

Cross-play is a big deal for a game like this, and it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out as Nintendo recently released a joint statement regarding safer gaming.

How to Play Among Us on Nintendo Switch

Some players were concerned about how the game would work in docked mode, since they would use access to the touch screen keyboard. However, the Switch does support keyboards when in docked mode.

There could also be a virtual keyboard that pops up on screen. It's worth noting that the Switch also has an app that handles communication in multiplayer games.

The official store page for the game also points out that the game will work in all three Switch modes. TV mode, Tabletop mode, and of course Handheld mode will work right out of the box.

Among Us originally came out in 2018, but didn't gain much traction until this year when it became popular on Twitch. This was in large part to streamers such as Sodapoppin and HasanAbi streaming the game.

You might also remember that US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez held multiple Among Us streams, which further gave the game more attention.

Even though the game came out two years ago, it managed to win Best Multiplayer Game and Best Mobile Game at this year's Game Awards.

Among Us actually had a sequel in the works, but the developers scrapped it in favor of supporting the current game. Innersloth also recently made it known that there would be a new map coming out next year.

Nintendo also recently announced an opening date for Super Nintendo World. Additionally, there have been recent leaks that suggest a new Mario game is on it's way to the Switch.
